Boost- Teen Renewal Retreat 2015 - Sacramento, NM
6-12th Grade When? We will leave from Westside parking lot at 4:00pm and return around 2:30pm on Sunday. How much? $40 plus one meal on the road. Westside teens- bring a friend and your friend can come free. I don't have enough money! We will have a work day in the morning of Oct 16th for those that need helping affording to go. What will we do? stay in cabins, campfire, volleyball, massive group games, and hear from guest speaker Cliff Mcgraw about simply following Jesus. Who else will be there? Kid's in the Kitchen Camp - Mays Landing, NJ
Our fourth week of cooking camp is for our 8-13 year old age group. In this 5 day fun filled camp, kids will visit the very places where food come's from and that's not the frozen food isle of the grocery store. Each day, we will explore the very places where beautiful, delicious, healthy food comes from. Then, it's back to the kitchen where we will create yummy dishes with the products that we learned about. Kids will have totally hands on experience both in and outside the kitchen. They will learn about nutrition, sustainability, responsible food sourcing along with basic cooking techniques, safe food handling, basic knife skills, recipe reading and so much more. Classes will be Monday thru Thursday from 8am-2pm with a fun cooking competition on Friday where the kids will cook for the parent's and compete for titles like most creative, dish, best knife skills, best use of cooking techniques and more. Price-$250/student Each student will receive Hands on experience learning age appropriate techniques for preparing and cooking all types of food. Girls in STEM Feb. Build-A-Thon - Keystone Science School Campus
February: Build-A-Thon At Keystone Science School, STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) is an integral part of every experience. The Girls in STEM program dives even deeper by exploring not only the STEM concepts in an empowering girls-only environment, but also highlighting real women currently working in STEM careers. This program builds leadership and collaboration between the girls involved as they engage in fun, hands-on activities that impart new skills and confidence in science, tech, engineering, and math - areas in which girls are inclined to be wallflowers. A key element of the program is a teaching technique called positive growth feedback in which "failure" is viewed as a necessary and even welcome step on the path to success. Research has shown that girls are especially receptive to this teaching technique and the scientific method is the ideal process for applying this technique to valuable learning. Girls in STEM will: Motivate and encourage participation and leadership in young females in STEM related fields. Incorporate the engineering and scientific process into interactive, engaging activities, while promoting positive growth feedback.
