Mining and Explosives Engineering Institute

Spend the week with us and our incredible team! You will learn from the Head of the Mining and Engineering Department here on campus. This is a pre-college experience where you will get the chance to experience being a college student! You will spend the week learning the science behind explosives and seeing how engineers use detonations to unearth precious minerals, shape the landscape, or even sculpt Crazy Horse and his horse’s head from a mountain side. You will take a close-up and personal view of mining and explosives engineering guided by trained explosives experts. Field trips to active mines will let you see blasts, and—if camp coordinators can manage it—apply your explosives knowledge to the detonation of different materials!
