WHAT IS Amplify Sleep Away Rock Camp? Amplify Sleep Away Rock Camp is an intensive one-week overnight program offered to girls ages 10-17 years old and is held at Ojai Valley Boarding School in Ojai, CA. Here girls of all skill levels have the opportunity to learn guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keys or other instruments. Girls will also form a band, write an original song, and perform at the Final Showcase for friends, families, and fans! In addition to all this, girls will have the opportunity to meet other girls and female musicians and mentors, as well as participate in enrichment activities such as workshops on media literacy or screen-printing, high ropes course, Dj-skills, Zine making and more. GRSB! welcomes campers that identify as female, trans, and gender-nonconforming. LESSONS Participants choose one instrument to focus on for the week–drums, bass, guitar, vocals, keyboards, or DJ. All instruction takes place in small group lessons and is led by experienced and enthusiastic female musicians. BAND PRACTICE The bands have band practice every day. Is your teen always snapping away? Stealing your camera? Obsessed with capturing their surroundings? Foster their creative skills at our TEEN PHOTO CAMP this summer in our Crabapple studio! Students will need a digital camera and a *genuine* desire to learn more about photography. We will offer separate sessions for middle & high schoolers in June and July. We’ll have instruction, shooting practice and fun learning activities each day in an artistic, small group environment. Each student will need to bring their digital camera, a snack, water bottle & lunch each day. All other materials will be provided, including class notes & supplies. The camp will cover the following topics : - Photographer’s Tool Kit - Essentials of Exposure (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO) - Camera Settings - Composition - Photography & Social Media - Lighting, Landscapes & People - Careers in Photography At the end of camp, we will have an open house showcasing our student's best work in the studio. Our fourth week of cooking camp is for our 8-13 year old age group. In this 5 day fun filled camp, kids will visit the very places where food come's from and that's not the frozen food isle of the grocery store. Each day, we will explore the very places where beautiful, delicious, healthy food comes from. Then, it's back to the kitchen where we will create yummy dishes with the products that we learned about. Kids will have totally hands on experience both in and outside the kitchen. They will learn about nutrition, sustainability, responsible food sourcing along with basic cooking techniques, safe food handling, basic knife skills, recipe reading and so much more. Classes will be Monday thru Thursday from 8am-2pm with a fun cooking competition on Friday where the kids will cook for the parent's and compete for titles like most creative, dish, best knife skills, best use of cooking techniques and more. Price-$250/student Each student will receive Hands on experience learning age appropriate techniques for preparing and cooking all types of food. Our combo camps gives the two sport athlete the ability to improve their offensive and defensive game in both basketball and baseball. Half of each day will be spent on the basketball courts working on your basketball game with an outstanding coaching staff. The students in the Drama Club will work as an ensemble to stage a selected scripted play. The play will be determined based on class size. The students will learn all aspects of putting on a theatrical production, from character creation, staging, choreography and vocal production.
