LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Famous Characters & Scene Study - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. The fun continues! For interested students with some acting experience. Well explore changing our voices and bodies to represent different characters from favorite and familiar stories like the Harry Potter series, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Secret Garden...perhaps well travel to Narnia. Students will get to stretch their wings a bit each week doing dramatic readings. Well include some fun theatre games and improv activities too! At the final class parents will be invited to a staged presentation. INSTRUCTOR ROBERTA MASTER-CULLEN has been teaching childrens classes and camps at the Little Theatre for seven years. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild specializing in radio and television voiceovers, and has been a television news anchor and reporter. Gymnastics Camp, Ages 7-13 - Community House
Girls will have the opportunity to learn gymnastics including rhythmic gymnastics with hoops and ribbons, tumbling on the mats and have the opportunity to learn routines on the balance beam, the single and uneven parallel bars and the vault. Lorrie Rousseau is LPRDs Gymnastic Instructor during the school year and now Lorrie brings her talent and over 25 years of dance and gymnastic experience to our summer camps. This is an excellent opportunity for dancers and cheerleaders to get in shape and learn beginner through intermediate gymnastic level activities. Space is limited! Does your child love science? And love to cook? This course is where cooking meets science! In this session, the campers learn about the science that goes behind cooking. But not all recipes are edible! The children will make lots of fun putties and slimes too! From growing yeast to building a radio out of a fruit to baking the yummiest science of all! The children will learn that their kitchen is filled with wonderful products that create some very explosive, gooey, slimy, fun and delicious science! We will build some unique items with basic things from our kitchen, make silly putty, arctic slime, and even play dough with your own scented design. Students build a sandcastle without ever stepping foot on the beach! They also change the properties of chocolate to make their very own chocolate bars!
