ACORN CAMPS IS A DAY CAMP FOR GIRLS AND BOYS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 4 AND 15. The focus of Acorn Camps is making sure children have the time of their lives. Acorn Camps is a much needed break from the academic year where creativity, adventure, thrills, smiles and plain old good times are the priority. Acorn Camps activities provide children with the opportunities and experiences to develop the necessary skills to face challenges, build character, foster independence , and to try new things in a fun and safe environment.A variety of programs offered: boating, group games, arts and crafts, adventure programming, primitive skill programs, science, legos, group challenge activities and initiatives, zip line, giant swing, gaga ball, and camp songs. LWC will be serving chili, chicken & noodles, and baked potatoes at the museum's annual Kansas Day celebration. Various desserts will also be served. Proceeds will go towards sending students in grades 3-5 to camp this summer. LWC expects to send over 20 kids to camp this year. Fundamentals Camp - Chicago Bulls (9-14 years) - The Community House
The Chicago Bulls are coming to The Community House! This camp will teach the latest techniques in ball handling, passing, shooting, and rebounding while also teaching children how to be student-athletes and great teammates. Every participant will receive top flight instruction from our professional Bulls/Sox Academy coaches who have learned from the Chicago Bulls coaching staff. We provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn the game, as well as teach life lessons such as discipline, respect, and sportsmanship. Each participant will receive a replica autographed photo of Derrick Rose, camp t-shirt, and personal scouting report. Your child will not only have fun, but will be given important tools to become a better basketball player. MATCH PLAY: Campers get to put into practice the skills theyve learned by playing matches. Singles and doubles strategy, ladder matches, exchange matches, and Davis Cup competition. Play will take place on clay and hard courts. Campers need to be able to serve and keep score. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please bring one new unopened can of balls on the first day of camp. Sneakers must be non-marking. Campers provide their own drinks and snacks. Play will take place outdoors so sunscreen and a hat are highly recommended. This clinic will teach your child the skills to play Volleyball. They will learn the rules and regulations of the sport to help them become a better player. Students will simulate game-like settings.
