LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Singing for Musical Theatre – Ensemble Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
No class on Feb. 14. This course is designed for singers at any level (grades 2nd - 9th). Students will learn the basics of vocal technique for proper singing, including voice placement and production, breathing, and phrasing. Students will receive guidance in finding their voice type and category. They will also work on presenting songs – learning how to make a song come alive by not just singing it, but interpreting and performing it. This semesters in-class concentration will be on musical theatre chorus/ensemble numbers. Students will work on singing together, and will be taught not just melodies, but also how to sing harmonies and various vocal parts. (An ability to sing harmonies and to sing with others is an essential part of musical theatre performance.) Some of the songs will also include basic movement/staging, and the music and movement that is learned will be presented/ performed in a musical revue format. Students will perform on the LTA stage in the Spring Showcase on April 1st and 2nd! (Students who wish to participate in the Showcase must be available for rehearsals during the early evening hours the week of March 28th.) How Are Emergency Situations Handled?
Emergency action plans are in place, reviewed with staff and practiced to ensure that campers are safe. These plans focus on everything from weather and health issues to missing camper or medical emergencies. All staff members, regardless of their role, are trained in these procedures to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Masjid al-Noor Youth Camp is an exciting opportunity to spend time building brotherhood/sisterhood while enjoying recreational activities, and spending time with Shaykh Noman Hussain. The camp will be open for youth between the ages of 12-18. If there are any children that would like to attend under the age of 12, they will be allowed attendance ONLY IF A PARENT/GUARDIAN attends as their chaperone. Brothers and sisters will be in separate accommodations in the same campsite under the supervision of adult male and female camp counselors. DATES: Monday, August 22, 2016 to Wednesday, August 24, 2016. LOCATION: YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside, IL COST: $125 per person. $100 for children under 12 (Payments can be given to Shaykh Noman, Sr. Orusa, or Sr. Bushra) ALL MEALS ARE INCLUDED. Join us for fun, engaging topics that explore economic and mathematics concepts to understand the world of finance and beyond. Investigate concepts such as supply, demand, scarcity and opportunity cost. Students will learn through interactive games and test their trading acumen by playing simulated rounds on the U.S. stock market using real stocks (but fake money!). The Futsal Kingz camp is a great way to help your child improve their technical ball skills and level of play. Players will learn new skills & tricks every day from our professional coaching staff and have a great experience, whether theyre the next Ronaldo or trying Futsal for the first time! Futsal is a fun, fast-paced 5v5 soccer game, played indoors within the lines of a basketball court (no walls), using a small, size 3, low-bounce ball. Students will discover how learning impacts their own attention, language, memory, higher order cognition and social cognition. Simulations, hands on activities, group discussions, brain scans, and video clips will be the focus of instruction.
