CAMP STRAWBERRY CIT program incorporates specialized skills, camp activities, special guests, athletics, safety training, and work experience skills in an exciting summer environment. Young teens, ages 11-15, will gain valuable training through work experience in a camp setting including how to fill out applications, develop resumes and lead groups. CIT-TIME ZONE allows the group to develop their own athletic and safety skills through professional instruction with a weekly focus. When CITs are not in CIT-TIME ZONE, they will work hand in hand with SRD camp staff to lead games, sports, cooking, songs and transitions. Many summer camp staff are seasonal. However, there are usually a number of year-round staff who can answer parents’ questions. This is a chance to talk about how homesickness will be handled, emergency procedures, the daily schedule, dietary restrictions, and more. Interviews can happen via phone, email, or even Skype. Patience is important. Staff members’ time is usually limited during the winter and spring season.

This unique program is designed for kids with the desire to learn more about the day-to-day operations of an animal sanctuary and get hands on experience with our rescues. Taught by our long term volunteer and intern, UNH Equine Science major, Aileen W., it’s sure to be chock of personal attention, education, hard work, and more animals than you can count. Join us at the farm 2-3 weekdays from July 10th to the 31st, 10:30-2:30 and help us go above and beyond to maintain happy, healthy animals 365 days a year. As always, safety comes first so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing (closed toed, hard shoes, bug spray and sunscreen) and bring a signed release, a copy parent/guardian license or federal ID (feel free to black out addresses, birth dates, and SS or S numbers) drinks, lunch, and an appetite to contribute and get involved with one of your favorite rescues! Whether you are learning the mechanics of correct form or perfecting your individual style, you will receive instruction and individual critiques with each dive. Class time includes the theories behind correct diving form, instruction in competitive strategies, training film analysis and on-site videotape evaluation.
