LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Drama Club: Really Rosie and the Nutshell Kids - The Philadelphia School
This year, The Drama Club will be putting on a production of Maurice Sendak and Carole Kings REALLY ROSIE. It follows a typical summer day in the life of the Nutshell Kids, a group of neighborhood friends, including Pierre, Alligator, Johnny, Chef Jeff from the Nutshell Library books, and Rosie and Kathy from The Sign on Rosies Door. Rosie — the self-proclaimed sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyns Avenue P and based on a girl Sendak knew as a child growing up in Brooklyn — entertains everyone by directing and starring in an Oscar-winning movie based on the exciting, dramatic, funny (and slightly exaggerated) story of her life. Drama Club meetings will be run both as rehearsals (starting with warm-ups, followed by blocking, running of scenes, vocal work, and choreography) AND prop, set, & costume design and/or painting and building time. Members will work together to come up with the design of the show and use club time to execute some set and prop pieces, as well as costume pieces. Is There a Dress Code?
Different camps have different types of dress codes, which is why parents should read all registration materials and welcome packets in advance. For example, a Christian camp may not want youth to wear two-piece bathing suits or spaghetti strap tank tops whereas a different camp may not care. Most summer programs will ask that youth wear age-appropriate clothing. This means avoiding any t-shirts or clothing items that have offensive or suggestive language or any overtly sexual and violent imagery.
Both the summer program’s mission or specialty and daily schedule and activities will dictate the details of the camp’s dress code....

Remember summer camp? Remember making new friends, learning new skills, getting a cool t-shirt and having fun? Following a sold-out debut last year, we are bringing back the joy of camp, but for grown-ups only. Grown-Up Summer Camp is a day-long immersive experience with artists, musicians, chefs, curators, and performers throughout the campus. Activities include making cardboard forts to battle rival campers, discovering hidden areas of the IMA campus, foraging the woods for edible plants, and cooking dinner with Cerulean chef Caleb France. Cap off the day gathering by the campfire with a drink with live music by local bands. The IMA's ARTx Series is made possible by a gift from the Efroymson Family Fund Saturday, September 24 / 10 am-9 pm

December 19th - 30th Monday - Friday Ages 7 - 15 Opportunities for all experience levels Improve your singing, dancing and acting while rehearsing for the show "Seussical, Kids"! Each student has at least one part in this fun production, some will have more than one part! Parts are assigned through gentle auditions. Students will also assist in all aspects of the theatrical experience, including costumes, props, backstage, designing programs, and selling tickets. Each day will include breaks for snacks, lunch and outdoor activities.
