These 1 or 2 week sessions provide first time sailors aged 7-9 with the basics of sailing in a fun, safe and encouraging environment. Sailors will be using Prams, which are ideal for 2-3 sailors in 1 boat. Students will be taught the points of sail, basics of sailing upwind, downwind and between 2 points, along with sail trim, knot tying and general seamanship. Learn to turn your favorite photos into artful fabric landscapes. In this class you will create a realistic fabric landscape by choosing appropriate fabrics and making free-motion machine stitches. You will be taught how to make patterns for your picture, learn many artistic points, learn how to stitch picture details, receive a reference booklet and plenty of individual help. After taking this class you will have a completed, or nearly completed fabric landscape! Students must bring their own sewing machine (for the second and third sessions) and have a basic ability to use the free-motion mode. Be sure your machine is in great working condition. No painting is involved, but you will be an artist with just fabric and thread! Get ready to figure out the why, how and wow of computer programming in this interactive coding camp! The camp explores many aspects of gaming, both on and off the computer. Using MITs Scratch computer language, kids learn how to program their very own unique games and animations. In addition, campers apply problem-solving strategies to create offline, traditional games such as checkers, labyrinth, and the electrified board game "Operation"! All camper projects are theirs for the taking, whether its a computer program uploaded to MITs website or an original board game to be played at home with friends.
