MPS Summer Music Institute June 20-July 1, 9am-12pm (Monday-Friday both weeks) Grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 Drop-off and Pick-up: Milwaukee High School of the Arts Refine your skills, get a jump start for next school year, or figure out which instrument is for you at this two-week camp, supported by the MPS Partnership for the Arts and Humanities. Grades 3-5: Explore a variety of instruments and musical styles and participate in your first large ensemble. No musical experience required. Eazywork Bartendaz in collaboration with City of Rochester Department of Recreation and Youth Services and Blessings in a Bookbag Community project present THE INVESTMENT: Health, Wellness and Fitness boost. This FREE community event and backpack giveaway promotes health nutrition & wellness gearing kids up for back to school by stimulating their minds and bodies to grow and effect our community in a positive way and teaching them how to make the right decisions with their body so they can make great decisions in the classroom. Jr.Chefs warm up the kitchen as they're taught the finer points of food preparation, keeping a clean work space, recipes & measuring ingredients… all while having fun! Kids will learn to make delicious appetizers, amazing salads, mouth-watering sauces, yummy breakfast dishes and favorites such as pasta, vegetables, rice, potatoes, fish, meats, and soups. Trekking for the Health of it - Old Trail School
Join Mrs. Wilson for a 3-5 mile intense hike in the beautiful CVNP. Be ready for strenuous trails by wearing sturdy hiking shoes or boots and carrying a water bottle. Eat a good breakfast for energy and stamina. We will be on the bus promptly at 9am to be able to get back to school in time for lunch. Bring rain gear and be ready for some serious hiking fun. Ages 9 and above unless Mrs. Wilson gives written permission to a younger child who is capable of these hikes. Students can meet at Brandywine Falls Friday at 5pm and hike 4 miles to Stanford Youth Hostel for an overnight campout. Pick up at Stanford Youth Hostel at 10:00 am on Saturday morning. Camping cookout dinner and breakfast will be provided. Students bring and carry their own backpack, sleeping bag, camping mat to sleep on, dishes, utensils, and clothes.
