Can We Interview the Staff?

Many summer camp staff are seasonal. However, there are usually a number of year-round staff who can answer parents’ questions. This is a chance to talk about how homesickness will be handled, emergency procedures, the daily schedule, dietary restrictions, and more. Interviews can happen via phone, email, or even Skype. Patience is important. Staff members’ time is usually limited during the winter and spring season.

Before going into this conversation, parents should make a list of questions. This ensures all necessary information about safety, program, and cost are touched upon. Camp staff should be able to explain how registration works and what makes this program different from others. They can even explain the qualifications of their coordinators and staff members. This is a chance for parents to learn everything they can so that they feel comfortable sending their child off for a couple of weeks or months.
