LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Camp Greenwell - Week 9 - The Greenwell Foundation
Ages 6-12 by June 20, 2016 [ages 6 (who have completed kindergarten) –12 by first day of camp session]. Camp Greenwell is everything nature and adventure with opportunities to kayak, hike, craft, fish, do archery, play and discover. Mid-week, campers will take a wagon ride over to the Manor House area where they can build forts with bamboo, explore the gardens, play water games and capture the flag, visit the Barn and participate in our Nature Time program. Daily free time allows the campers to let their imagination and interests drive their play while in the outdoors. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week there is a chance to make Smores. The week ends with Tye-Dye Friday for a take-home memory of the week at camp. Camp Greenwell is offered all eight weeks of our summer camp program. Both AM and PM Extended care and Drop-In Extended Care is available. 1st Session - Crochet / Knitting/ Paper Folding - YSCP
Instructor: Ms. Anamaria Here is the summary for the club. Below it is the summary for me: Crochet/Knitting and Paper folding In this club we focus on learning basic crochet or knitting techniques. This includes learning how to read charts. Students choose between knitting or crochet to start. They have option of learning the other later. Squares are the main building blocks for all of the projects. Projects will be up to the students to choose. They range from a scarf, book cover to a basic shirt. There will also be small non-square projects like mustaches, flowers and balls. Focusing on squares gives participants a quick project that can easily be completed during club time after the first few sessions. It also allows for lots of color without having to change or join yarn. Small projects like these can easily be done anywhere. The possibilities are endless for completed projects. A completed scarf can easily become a blanket later on if they want with the simple addition of more squares. Age 7-9, Session 02 - LMSS - A
These 1 or 2 week sessions provide first time sailors aged 7-10 with the basics of sailing in a fun, safe and encouraging environment. Sailors will be using Prams, which are ideal for 2-3 sailors in 1 boat. Students will be taught the points of sail, basics of sailing upwind, downwind and between 2 points, along with sail trim, knot tying and general seamanship.
