What to Avoid Packing for Summer Camp?
Summer camp is a great chance for kids to stay active and meet new friends. Thus, children are usually asked to leave values at home, including electronics. Camp life includes a lot of activity and it would be easy for iPods, gaming consoles, and other items to be lost or damaged. Instead of staying plugged in, camp is a wonderful time for kids to detox from such items. Of course, if a child is going to a technology program, a laptop might be acceptable.
To keep everyone safe, fireworks, weapons, and illegal drugs and other items need to stay home....

Fall Softball Camp - Linton Youth League Sports Complex
We are pleased to announce a one day Fall Softball Camp open to players from 5 years of age to 8th grade. The camp will be held at the Linton Youth Complex on Saturday September 5th. This camp will be conducted by The Indiana Tribe coaches and staff and is open to everyone regardless of skill level and where a player lives. Players will be divided into age groups and we will focus on fundamental softball skills, game knowledge, and we will have fun doing it. Cost is $10/player and will include a lunch of a hot dog, chips and a drink. Players will be divided up in the afternoon for games and skills competitions. Camp times are from 9am-3pm. A separate instructional pitching time will be available from 4-6pm. Cost for the pitching clinic will be $5/player if you attended the camp or $10/player if the player is only attending the pitching clinic. We will focus on beginning pitching mechanics and drills. Ages 7 years to 8th grade are welcome. Registration is available the day of the event, but you are encouraged to pre-register via our Facebook Event post or by calling or texting Greg Elliott at 812.798.0174.

Global Video Game Designer #1 - Middle School
Coding is the new literacy - so give your child a leg up by helping him or her become a media maker. This course teaches the building blocks of coding through MITs Scratch Jr. video game design platform. Young children will create all sorts of neat animations (including a dance party and a farm animal race) while learning sequencing skills that make characters move, jump, dance, and talk. With all Level Up Village courses, 30% of the profit goes to sponsor a Global Partner classroom of students in a developing country who will be matched up with kids at Portledge. Together, using the same curriculum and technology, young video game designers from around the world will work collaboratively by exchanging personal video messages and by participating in a digital show & share of their shared creative work. Weeks of Discovery Grades (PreK-5th) - Ethical Culture
WEEKS OF DISCOVERY is an exciting vacation break program filled with age-appropriate activities for children in Grades PreK – 5th. The program takes full advantage of a gymnasium and rooftop playground as well as the closeness of Central Park. Throughout the week, children investigate themes incorporated into art, science, and nature activities and share their discoveries with each other. These themes are expanded in other activities, including sports, games, music, movement, storytelling, drama, and cooking. Under the supervision of experienced counselors, children also go on special outings and adventures. Although each child is part of a smaller peer group of similar ages, every child is also a member of the larger group. This gives each child a different and special kind of social and learning experience. Children have fun, exciting days, but there is always time for relaxation, reflection, and individual pursuits. Our young athletes celebrate the wide world of sports with a weeklong competition featuring sports and games from all over the globe. After the closing ceremony, campers will take their Friday field trip to the Riverwinds Community Center for some wall climbing, water sliding, and more! While morning activities are geared toward the weeks theme, all weekly FSMH camps include a trip to the pool Monday-Thursday for a swim lesson and play time. Campers will also have a choice in the afternoon to play outdoor games or work on arts and crafts. 856-478-2908 x126

Do you love to be creative with food? If the answer is YES, then you need to part of this exciting and fun summer cooking camp This fun and action packed 2 week class would get started with students learning the basics of cooking and gradually increase to more advanced skills. Students will learn the art of baking and decorating a variety of Quick breads, Yeast breads, Cakes, Pies, Cookies, as well as how to marinate and make simple, balanced stir-fry meals for vegetarians and meat lovers. Students will learn to julienne, knead, dice, cream, mix and prepare picnic foods. Setting a formal place for dining and much, much more would be included in this great class. 301-807-9132
