Summer Art Camp for Kids - Winslow, AR
Summer Art Camp for Kids babaMonday-Friday, July 11-15, 9-12am Special outdoor dinner and performance on Friday, July 15, beginning at 6pm. Explore new areas in the arts at Summer Art Camp, July 11-15 at Ozark Folkways! Create giant masks and bring the characters of the Russian folk tale Baba Yaga to life as you experiment with music-making, movement, and mime! There will be witches, magical animals, fabulous costumes, lights, music and action: fun for all levels. Everyone will take part in a final performance at dusk on Friday, July 15 on our outdoor stage, the Crow’s Nest. The community will be invited to join in a weiner roast before the show, and then to marvel at the amazing performance the kids will have put together in a single week! Cost is $25 per child and includes all supplies and a healthy mid morning snack each day. Space is limited! Pre-registration is required and spots are available on a first come first serve basis. Teen Sewing Boot Camp - Edmonds, WA
Is your teen bored already? Sign him/her up for our week long beginning sewing boot camp running Monday through Friday, July 19 through 22 from 10 am to 2 pm daily. They will learn basic hand sewing techniques by hand making their own pin cushion and then graduate to sewing a pillowcase, pajama pants a skirt and other cool stuff., including getting to participate in a community project. You will need to bring your own sewing machine if you have one, and basic sewing supplies. A list of fabrics and notions will be sent to you once you have registered. Cost is $100. The Red Wolf Teen Leaders(RWTL) program cultivates teens who are equally comfortable and competent both in their communities and in the natural world. This is accomplished through community service, an ever deepening knowledge of place, and wilderness survival skills. Teens in this program will develop a solid awareness of their individual gifts and will be well equipped to carry these gifts forward. Participants in RWTL will go on a series of adventures where they learn essential survival skills such as fire by friction, building natural shelters, wild food foraging and much more.​ To provide a program that is accessible to families and yet offers a deep experience for the teens, were offering this program in 3 separate monthly classes that can be taken individually or as a whole. In this camp, you will learn about fossils, dinosaurs, human history, artifacts, and Native American arrowheads, shells and pottery, rocks and minerals, and medicinal plants. Campers will have the time of their lives digging in dirt, painting with actual paint rock chunks from a quarry, and learning the secrets that our earth holds. Go on our archaeological dig, crack open a Geode, find dinosaur bones and other fossils, pan for gems & minerals, make sand painted medallions, and create your own real arrow.
