LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Nebraska Summer Dance Camp 2016 - Halsey 4H Camp
The Nebraska Summer Dance Camp invites you to be part of our 29th year! Join us for seven exciting days of intensive dance – plus outdoor recreation at the Nebraska National Forest – with top Midwest teachers plus our featured guest instructors, Ruth Hoagboon, Dana DeFilippis and Nichol Mason Lazenby! This fast-paced program will provide a rewarding challenge for dancers at moderate to advanced levels. Enrollment is limited to 70 dancers. Students will be grouped by ability to assure individual attention. Minimum requirements: age 10 and two years of ballet. Students will take three to four classes daily. All students will have one classical ballet class each day, plus 2–3 other classes providing a balanced program for each level. The State 4-H camp is located on the edge of the nations largest man planted forest, near Halsey, NE. Its location combines the best of a forest setting with the great Nebraska Sandhills. Theres a lot more to Dance Camp than just dance! Enjoy walking the forest trails, challenge yourself on the TRUST course and zip line, get creative making your own tie-dye shirts. Single-gender camps are great if parents want their children to focus on empowerment and independence. Many youth today are distracted by the other gender, and this is a chance to give kids a break so that they learn how to be friends with their peers. Kid's Campout with the Prickly Pear Living History Museum - San Antoni
Do you want to help your kids build a connection to nature, but aren’t sure how? Do you struggle to get them away from screens? On March 19th and 20th Government Canyon State Natural Area and the Prickly Pear Living History Museum will be co-hosting a camping event for kids ages 10-16 and their parents. No screens allowed, but no one will be bored. Instead, we’ll talk about how local Native Americans survived and thrived in the same places we now call our home. For hands-on learning we’ll have reproduction tools, weapons, and natural resources for everyone to explore. Along the way, kids discover how to be hike leaders and why it’s important to be good caretakers of the land. We’ll provide most of the equipment. Maximum of two kids and two adults per group, so that more kids can enjoy the experience. Space is limited to 12 people. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! Our last event filled up fast. Odyssey Teen Camp get together in Central Park, Sunday, December 4th from about 12:00-3:00! .... This feels like a really good time to connect with old and new friends and just be together for a few hours. I know many of you live too far to get to NYC for a few hours, but you will be there in spirit. We are going to meet in Central Park at a place called Arthur Ross Pinetum. It's kind of a playground, and small field, that is fenced. It's on the West side of the Park, near 84th Street and Central Park West. It will probably be chilly, so dress nice and warm. It won't be a big deal, we will hang out , eat donuts and pizza, and other healthy food options. I may have new long sleeved t-shirts to give you if your willing to do a little social media marketing for camp. Feel free to bring along any friends. Build-A-Bear - Old Trail School
Campers will visit the local Build-A-Bear store on Monday to create their own teddy bears. The rest of the week will be spent creating accessories and other items that go along with their individual bears. Campers will spend quality time with popular Old Trail teachers and friends incorporating stories and drama, arts and crafts, songs and games, social studies and research, science and exploration, Math, and Language arts into all their explorations. Emphasis on teamwork, celebration of individual growth and creativity will make this camp exciting and memorable. Campers should wear comfortable play clothes and be ready to go, go, go! Drum! Percussion Camp for Absolute Beginners - MacPhail Center for Music - Minneapolis
Experience the fun of laying down a basic rock groove or the joy and energy of a large ensemble of mallet instruments. In this fantastic new camp, students will get a chance to try a variety of percussion instrument while building basic playing skills that will help prepare them to play in their school band or orchestra. Any student can join this camp, even if you have no previous experience playing an instrument. After 5 fun-filled days packed with lots of playing time on a variety of instruments, students will have a chance to show off their new skills for family and friends at a recital at the end of camp.
