Things are coming into place fast for Bethel's Student ministry, Beta Sigma, to have our very own summer camp, designed specificaly by and for Bethel students and their friends. Many exciting details are still falling into place, but some very important ones are already set: - Our worship band for the whole week is The Hardcastles, our camp worship band for the last two years at Camp Eagle. - Our speaker is former hockey player, youth evangelist and long time youth pastor, Shawn Roberts, who has spoken to thousands upon thousand of students and seen thousands come to know Christ. - Activities we know we'll have: river tubing, swimming, gaga ball, ulimate, football, hiking, square dancing, bow and arrow tag, airsoft, bonfires, small group talks, team challenges, camp challenges... - Best of all, we'll be serivng the community and the camp throughout the week doing service project. - So many more things to come, shirts, journals, themed meals and more...we'll keep you updated as things move. CAMP DETAILS Fairy Tales Week In addition to fun theatre games that foster creativity, self-expression and teamwork, students will explore their favorite fairy tales through dramatic play. We will act out stories, improvise news interviews with fairy tale characters, create set pieces, engage in music, movement and puppet activities and much more! A showcase of our favorite stories will culminate this ensemble building experience. Children spending the full day with us should bring a sack lunch for our lunch break at the park Musical Theater Week Thank you for the music! In this camp, students will have fun exploring their own personal voices through songs and dances from various musicals! In addition to drama and improv games that foster theater skills in creativity, self-expression and teamwork, campers will create their own show that incorporates songs from their favorite musicals. Individual Week / Add on Registration Here (2016 AKA SOP SCHEDULE BELOW) AKASPORTs Speed of Play: Leadership through Fitness Program, is led by AKA Director, Chris Schulz and the AKA professional training Staff. Participants enrolled in the AKA Speed of Play (SOP program), in partnership with the AKA All Sports Camp (ages 6-12), will offer adolescents an opportunity to be active, train and play in an All Sports setting geared to teach them leadership qualities with personal mentorship opportunities. The base of the Speed of Play program is from 9:00am-4:00pm and the doors are open for all Speed of Play participants from 7:00am-6:00pm, the same hours of the AKA All Sports Camp so you can take advantage of supervised activity time the entire day. Robot Builder - Goleta Presbyterian Church
Campers will learn about the Science of Robotics with historical information, discoveries and advances in robot technology. Newtons Laws will be emphasized all week and each camper will receive three robot kits to work on. Campers will be able to take home their remote controlled robots! This year, Terrific Scientific will be featuring our 3-in-1 All Terrain Robot kit and our 14-1 Solar Robot. In addition to these projects, campers will learn how to solder with our space alarm-soldering project. Learning the skills of wiring, gear building, and soldering will allow campers to go on to more sophisticated robot creations. The 3-in-1 All Terrain Robot is a multi-function tracked mobile robotic kit. Utilize different track modules and make your robot transform into 3 amazing variations: the forklift, rover, and gripper. Using the wired controller, command the robot to move forward, backward, turn, grip and lift. The 14-1 Educational Solar Robot Kit is an innovative solar powered science kit that can transform into 14 different robot modes. Elite Camp The Elite Camp provides an intense, rewarding, and fun experience for campers. The camps unique curriculum balances instructional sessions and live match situations each day. This combination of training and playing helps campers transfer the skills and tactics developed into game play. Each camper is assigned to a team upon arrival at camp.
