Grades 1-6 Whether your camper has played for a few seasons or is just starting out, this camp is the one to choose! Each day campers work on basic to advanced baseball skills and play a game, too! Participants learn in a safe, structured environment, have fun and gain confidence playing baseball. Daily hitting, fielding, pitching and outfield stations are featured as well as daily trivia contests and prizes for everyone! Campers receive a written evaluation on their skills. Campers should bring mitts, bats, snack, sunscreen and water bottles marked with their name. Coaches: GVP Sports staff. Monday-Friday -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Camp will meet in the rain, shelter available for severe weather. Camp uses reduced impact balls for camp. Please bring your own batting helmet if needed. Mon, Aug 1, 2016 - Fri, Aug 5, 2016 Summer Art Camp at the SCGA Morning Classes: 9:00am - 12:00pm: Fun in the Mud (Ages 4-7) In this beginner’s pottery class students will be introduced to different kinds of clay, the pottery wheel, a variety of hand-building skills and colorful glazes. We will draw inspiration for our creations from children’s stories as we combine art, storytelling and play in this unique class offering. What I Really Want to do is Paint! (Ages 4-7) Miss Ashley will work with students to develop basic painting skills and a love for painting, along with concepts like the color wheel, line, texture and value in this foundational painting class perfect for our youngest artists. This class is designed to help prepare students for future art classes and to give them hands-on experience with paint media and tools while having a blast squishing, squirting and smushing paint onto canvas. Artistic Assemblage (Ages 9 & up) Local artist Trisha King will guide this set of projects in which students will use stretched canvases and canvas boards as bases for their assemblages and will refinish a picture frame. CAMP Come find out what the Pioneer Valley was like millions of years ago! With day trips, crafts, songs and nature hikes, we will make connections between our local ecosystems of today and those of prehistoric times, including the animals, dinosaurs and plants that lived back then. We will learn the stories of the rocks around us, finding evidence of shifting plate tectonics, fossils, volcanoes, glaciers and the power of water. 4132566006.0

7th-9th Grade film campers in are in for a fun and exciting hands-on introduction to the media arts in a beautiful natural setting. Start the week filming around the natural beauty of the Icicle Creek Campus, followed by two days of editing and post production. From concept to final cut, young filmmakers will experience each step of the creative process and experiment with new technologies. Campers will learn how to conduct a meaningful interview, handle a camera, set up a shot, record audio, and even shoot aerials from a drone. And once the footage is all gathered, of course, it all has to be organized and edited. By the end of the week, campers will have planned, shot and edited their own movie and well cap it all off with a family screening complete with popcorn! Come enjoy a week of theatrical experiences including: playwriting, costume design, the actors process, and even performance! Students will work collaboratively to create a short play which will be performed at the end of the week. They will use both imagination and research to inform their artistic choices in everything from design work to acting. Additionally, students will explore improvisational theatre in both long and short forms as a means to stimulating the playwriting process and deepening their acting skills. Students with and without theatre backgrounds are invited to come explore, learn, and play! Rachel Wright is a passionate theatre educator who seeks to help her students grow their understanding and compassion for the world, life, and humanity through the magnificent practice of theatre. She has a BS in Theatre Arts Education from Appalachian State University. After college she moved to New York to pursue a career in theatre. She was accepted by Circle in the Square Theatre Conservatory Program where she concentrated on her craft. Upon graduating she began performing in countless off and off-off broadway productions.
