Plankton Pioneers enjoy being introduced to marine science through hands on activities, interactions with live animals, plus themed crafts, games and songs. The North Alabama Congregational Holiness Church Christian Education Department would like to announce our 2015 Youth Camp. This event will be June 21st thru June 25th, our theme this year is Camp Discovery "Jesus at work through us". The early registration will be at our Giant Youth Rally, June 6th, 2015, this year the fee will be $65 on this day and $70 if you wait until the day of, so register early and save $5.00. Our speaker will be Reverend Jason Lee, a former camper and a outstanding minister for both the young and the young at heart. There will be classes for all ages and under 6 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Your Pastor or Youth Pastor will have detailed information for you on Sunday. FIRST CLASS is Saturday It is NOT too late to join us.. They will also learn how to read a script, mark stage directions, memorize lines, audition and conquer stage fright. Magical Adventures – Little Superheroes - The Oakwood School
Learn to throw webs like Spiderman, join the superheroes to save a princess, stop the worry monsters and more when you take magical adventures with your favorite superheroes. These exciting activity, relaxation, and mindfulness classes creatively engage the campers imaginations with exciting themes and superhero missions. Through play, crafts, and guided stories, children will learn some basic relaxation techniques and simple mindfulness skills, such as the superheros mindful listening (focusing on a particular sound or listening to see how many different sounds we hear), mindful seeing (like Superman—focusing on seeing things we had not noticed), and mindful breathing (paying attention to our own breathing). Superheroes are known for their ability to focus their superpowers and use them for compassion. Congressman Tim Ryan says, "Mindfulness will help children to pay attention and be kind to themselves and others as they swim in a world of distraction and aggression." HS Robotics with Arduino Week 3 - Merrill Engineering Building
A week-long camp for entering 10th, 11th, and 12th graders; or 9th graders who have taken a middle school camp. Campers will build and program machines that react to the world and to people using embedded computers, sensors, and motors based on the Arduino family of processors. This is a fun, engaging camp that doesnt need any prior experience, but uses "real" gear in creative ways. The Arduino system is used in the University of Utah undergraduate Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science courses, so this is a great way to see what goes on in those majors.
