My child gets homesick easily. Is camp not right for him / her?
Everyone gets homesick from time to time, but if your child seems especially shy, anxious, or clingy, you may fear that he or she isn't ready for an overnight trip. However, camp gives many kids their first taste of independence in a safe and supervised environment, which teaches them that living away from Mom and Dad isn't as scary as it seems.
Camp counselors are highly trained in dealing with homesickness, and they know how to comfort, encourage, and distract campers with fun games. By the end of the week, you may find that your nervous child doesn't want to leave!

Youth Leadership Summit 2.0
Held in Ashland, Nebraska at Carol Joy Holling Camp and Retreat Center, this event will gather youth from across the ELCA for intentional leadership development and faith formation. Our guests include Presiding Bishop Eaton, Kevin Strickland, Assistant to the Presiding Bishop/Executive for Worship, Stephen Bouman, Executive Director for Congregational and Synodical Missions of the ELCA, and several other wonderful speakers and teachers. Our featured presenter is Lyle Griner who will be coaching us on Peer Ministry. Each synod will select two youth to participate and send one adult to accompany them on the journey. Registration will be covered by a special grant. Your only responsibilities will be travel and being open to what God has in store for you through this event. Registration closes on October 1, 2015.

Camp CCYT 2016 - Huron, OH
Camp CCYT is BACK! Caryl Crane Youth Theatre is pleased to announce GODSPELL as its 2016 summer camp offering! Explore all aspects of the theatre with other aspiring actors who love the stage as much as you do! Camp CCYT is the arts camp that is more than a traditional summer camp. Designed for students ages 10-18, the program is a comprehensive, one-week intensive, in which students get a chance to hone their skills in a fast-paced, creative environment. Camp CCYT meets July 18-23, 2015, 9am – 3 pm in the McBride Auditorium on BGSU Firelands College Campus. One performance of Godspell is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 at 10 am. Each student will not only STAR onstage in the production, but also will also contribute to the direction, choreography, set, lighting and costume design of the production. Students will be assigned a mentor from the Caryl Crane Youth Theatre 2016 Staff and will work as assistants on a specific “behind-the-scenes” area of their interest. Camp CCYT is designed to instill in aspiring thespians a deeper understanding about producing and participating in a first-class musical with working professionals. Tuition for Camp CCYT is $125.00 and space is limited to 34 students....

Outdoor Adventure Skills - St. Paul Gym
Are you ready to learn what it takes to be an Outdoor Adventurer?! Spend the week learning how to pack a backpack like a pro, work as a team to navigate using map and compass, cook over an open fire you built yourself, and basic shelter construction using a tarp and Para cord. Youll spend time learning how to meal plan and what equipment is needed for a trip, as well as how to read the weather. The Outward Bound staff will help you escape to nature and survive with ease. This camp includes two field trips to put all of your new skills to the test! An additional waiver is required with registration. All registrants agree to the policies and procedures of Youth Programs, including change fees, cancellation fees, deadlines, and other details found in the program materials and parent handbook. This camp is designed for those who are ready to advance their learning and exploration of the natural world. Connolly Ranch Stewards will get a behind-the-scenes perspective of Connolly Ranch and its natural history. Participants will have the opportunity to work on conservation projects, build natural shelters, learn advanced farm chores, explore rarely used areas, hike in the hills and delve into techniques, tactics and concepts that this older group is ready to explore. But its not all work! Our naturalists and teachers will guide these budding environmentalists in games and exercises that offer lots of fun while imparting important lessons about protecting open spaces and wild places.
