During staff training, counselors and other staff members are trained in basic youth development, behavior management and common issues, group formation, diversity and cultural competency. Common issues like homesickness are also touched on, and counselors are reminded of the importance of encouraging youth to reach their full potential. The camp’s culture and mission as well as the schedule and related activities are also explained in full detail. Additionally, staff learn basic first aid and how to manage different emergencies.

Environmental Art Camp (VSA Tennessee partnership) - Gallatin, TN
Environmental Art Camp is a program created specifically for individuals with disabilities over the age of 13 who are interested in the environment and have a love of art. The camp will be under the direction of VSA Tennessee teaching artist, Dee Kimbrell. During the camp, the young people will learn about environmental issues and their effect on our national parks. Participants will create their own tunnel books that reflect ecosystems within the parks. They will also create a larger tunnel book specific to the Smoky Mountain National Park. This book will be given to the park as a 100th anniversary gift at Tremont in October. The book will remain on site as an educational tool. Practice and learn how to serve, spike, set, bump etc. This camp will help prepare you to really improve you game and move up the ladder of success! Enter the Middle School through door #34 and proceed to the gym. In order to register for this activity, you must first click to open the participation waiver and then place your initials in the left box to confirm that you read and agree. You must also read the Parent/Athlete concussion agreement in the text and check the box underneath to provide confirmation that you have read, understand and agree to the new concussion information. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parent/Guardian must initial for anyone under 18 years old. Grades 3-8 A week of advanced training for more experienced players, this camp will improve agility, balance and coordination through a series of individual ball mastery exercises. Highly-qualified British coaches will emphasize skill development and mastery of core techniques through individual and small-group practice and games. Players will learn and practice ways to turn, fake and beat opponents as well as master lifts and balances to improve their touch, control and confidence with the ball.
