Star Wars® FAB LAB Projects & More! - Ages 6 - 9 Build to your hearts content in this all-day workshop. In the morning, design beautifully detailed Star Wars® vehicles and power them with a LEGO® motor, battery pack and gears. Students experience the excitement of a motor - how this device can transform a stationary object into a moving one. Projects include the Millennium Falcon, Reys Landspeeder, R2D2, X-Wing fighter, and Snow-Speeder. Students construct the motorized projects, then customize the design, and play with and share ideas with other campers. Builders are sure to have the force with them in this camp! In the afternoon, students learn the principles of engineering including the use of beams, columns and trusses as they build with the KNEX® system. Well design a skyscraper and bridge and even build a motor-powered car to drive over the bridge. Other projects include amusement park rides such as a spinning swing and a ferris wheel. Come to our "YouthPass to the Future" Campaign Kick-Off! OPAL's multi-racial youth program, Youth Environmental Justice Alliance, is organizing a community event to raise awareness about a campaign to sustain and expand the YouthPass program in Portland. Our goal for the campaign is to show the city, TriMet, our schools, and our community that affordable public transportation is important for youth to lead healthy lives, be able to thrive, and be successful. The youth-led event will officially launch our campaign and engage with community members and decision makers, especially in East Portland neighborhoods. There will be educational booths about transit justice, powerful youth testimonies, and cool performances! YouthPass to the Future Campaign: We want all high school students in Portland to be able to go to school and access opportunities that prepare them for success. Transit is an educational right! Zombie Survivor Lake Camp - City of Boerne Lake Park
The Zombie Apocalypse is coming! Do not be caught unprepared! Zombie Apocalypse Survival Camp teaches survival skills vital to protecting yourself and your family from invading zombies! Skills including: evasion tactics to avoid zombies, zombie combat in case you have an encounter, fishing, archery, shelter building and outdoor cooking for basic survival once the world as we know it has been ended. Full Day Enrollment 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Morning Only (9:00am-Noon) Clowning Around - This fun-filled camp will be perfect for your young jokester. Using improvisation and short scenes, students will learn how to make strong character choices and work with objectives and relationships in this creative acting class. Afternoon Only (1:00 - 4:00 pm) Behind the Curtains of OZ - This week we will be building the yellow brick road to OZ along with light and sound design! The campers will also learn the basics in doing hair and makeup. All campers will be a part of the Wizard of Oz production running the weekend of July 1-2. Camps - Discovery Camp - Recreation Center at Michelle Obma School of Techn
Participants in Discovery Camp will engage in sports, art classes, swimming lessons, open swim, movie day and weekly field trips. There will be plenty of fun had by all. Participants provide their own sack lunch, swimsuit, towel, movie concession money. Snacks, swim instruction, open swim, all classes, movie admission and field trips are included. No camp July 4. Payment Plan Terms: A $100 deposit per camper and a $10 payment plan processing fee must be paid in full at registration. Remaining camp balance must be paid in full by Monday, June 6, 2016 to attend camp. Contact Recreation & Parks Department for more information. On-line registration for camps is not available. Refund requests made prior to the start date of a program will be cheerfully given less a 5% refund fee.
