How Are Staff Members At Camp Trained?
During staff training, counselors and other staff members are trained in basic youth development, behavior management and common issues, group formation, diversity and cultural competency. Common issues like homesickness are also touched on, and counselors are reminded of the importance of encouraging youth to reach their full potential. The camp’s culture and mission as well as the schedule and related activities are also explained in full detail. Additionally, staff learn basic first aid and how to manage different emergencies.

Dates: November 21 & 22 Time: 9:45-3:00pm both days Ages: females 8th grade and below (fastpitch only) Cost: $40 per player Pre-Registration due by Friday, November 13, 2015 Mail release form and payment (checks payable to PFHS Softball Booster Club) to: Coach Tara Blackwell Pine Forest High School 2500 Longleaf Dr. Pensacola, Fl 32526 OR attend the pre-registration at the PF softball complex on Fri, November 6 @ 5pm. ***Athletes that are registered early will receive a free camp t-shirt. Box lunches, unlimited water and shirts for pre- registered athletes will be provided. There will be extra camp shirts for sale for $15. Proceeds will benefit the Pine Forest Softball Program. Jammin Kids Inc. presents "Camp Jam," an all encompassing camp that gives your child hands on experience in many genres such as acting, dance, science, fitness, career exploration entrepreneurship, and more. Camp Jam is open to all children ages 5-13 (4 year olds are welcome if potty trained or turning 5 during the summer). Tuition is $70 per week (includes snacks). Parents, looking for a place to send the older kids? Camp Jam is extending an awesome invitation for volunteers ages 14-18 to help out with daily rountines for the younger campers. Volunteers also gain experience teaching classes and building life long confidence and leadership skills. Volunteers receive free weekly tuition but must make a commitment to attend camp daily. Camp will take place from 9am-4pm with early drop off and late pickup at an additional $5 per day Camp Jam hosts daily drop-ins for $25 per day and half days for $15 per day. Level 1 & 2 Mountain Bike - Ute Valley Park @ Pinon Valley
This camp is for kids with Level 1 and Level 2 mountain biking skills. Kids will break into two groups after the first day of camp based on age/ability. LEVEL 1 After a kid has become confident riding a bicycle on two wheels, with the ability to steer and brake the bike appropriately, we move into more skill development of bicycle handling, overall confidence, and building up young mountain biking ambassadors. We teach appropriate trail and group riding etiquette and build on the childs ability to brake, steer, and handle the bicycle on gravel both uphill and downhill. LEVEL 2 This level becomes the difference between a ‘beginner and an ‘intermediate mountain biker. Though age is not the determining factor, kids are usually at least 7 years old and have been riding a bicycle confidently for a couple years. With level 2 comes more substantial mountain biking with drills specific to handling a bicycle on singletrack. Capacity for riding grows to longer consecutive riding stretches, maintaining energy and enthusiasm for riding, and the ability to show multiple riding skills naturally. All curriculum will be aligned with Common Core Standards. Students will be given optional homework, needed literature and academic materials. Parents will be given an opportunity to share their childs needs prior to the camps introduction so curriculum can be individualized. Students will use the athletic activities and games to guide academic projects. Think calculating averages, graphing and sport related literature.
