Youth Curator Camp Virginia Museum of Natural History Saturday, December 19 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth Curator Camp is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to learn about the museum while participating in fun, hands-on activities and programs. Parents and guardians – this is a great opportunity for your children to experience a day of scientific adventure and discovery while you finish up any last-minute holiday shopping! Campers will meet the museum’s scientists and learn about real museum collections. There will be demonstrations of the casting and molding program, with children having the opportunity to create, paint and take home their very own fossil cast! In addition to these unique activities, campers will enjoy pizza and a movie in the museum’s Education Center. Session 3 - Team Camp - Florida Southern College
The goal of this camp is to spend 4 days having a blast playing the game of volleyball, learning new techniques, developing team chemistry and exposing teams to new concepts and strategies. The coaches will cover individual skills (passing, setting, attacking, blocking, serving) as well as team concepts (offensive systems, defensive patterns, serve receive patterns, transition). There will be a day and a half of training followed by two days of competition. Individuals may also attend. They will be skill tested and put on teams. The emphasis for this camp is on building team concepts within each group of players. (Ages 11-18) Check in will be Sunday at 4:00 pm and Check out will be Wednesday at 11:00 am 863-680-4474

Plankton Pioneers enjoy being introduced to marine science through hands on activities, interactions with live animals, plus themed crafts, games and songs. Everyone loves cartoons! Learn the basics of cartooning focusing on the action line, gesture, expression, features, colors, textures, and values. Kids will review lots of popular cartoon works from Disney to Dreamworks. We will assign traits for the cartoon character, and then design original cartoons with those traits. Included in this workshop will be 2 days on caricature exaggeration practice. Kids will tap into their imaginations by coming up with names and titles for their own comic masterpieces.
