Kids Winter Art Camp: Mixed-Media Masks! - Bellingham, WA
In this winter break art class, we'll imagine that we are in a warm tropical place with palm trees, wild birds singing, and sandy beaches. To inspire our imagination, we’ll learn about the French post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin, the location of Tahiti, and a brief history of Tikis. Tiki masks actually have a long, rich history in Polynesian culture. The Tiki masks were originally hand-carved wooden masks that were used to symbolize deities, give protection, and increase luck. We'll create our own colorful and textured papers with paints with a variety of brushes, and different items to make texture, in mixed-media format, then use the painted papers to create our Tiki masks. Art Teacher: Rachel (LeLu) Simpson Dates: December 28th, 29th, & 30th at 3:00pm – 5:00pm Location: BAAY, 1059 N. Time to shake off the winter and say hello to the spring! Fugitive Spring Camp is the perfect opportunity for all ages and experience to learn to run, jump, climb, vault, roll, swing, flip and more from the most experienced staff in Dallas. Fugitive campers will be exposed to tips, drills, and games that build strength, mobility, coordination, teamwork, and leadership while reinforcing good technique in all the major methods of movement. A series of 4 in-depth workshops all about fun types of movement provide campers with the best parkour training possible at the first and only parkour facility in DFW! They will improve their skills in the controlled environment of The Asylum, and then test their ability with games and challenges all under the guidance of our certified staff. The Future Wildcat Program is designed for ages 5-7 and focuses on introducing and teaching the game of basketball in a fun and exciting atmosphere. We use a variety of different interactive games to teach the skills and fundamentals of basketball. All of the teaching is done by the Chico State coaches and players.
