This Farm Camp is open to children 5-13 year olds. Each day begins at 9:00 am with special time in the barnyard. Every half an hour we change to a new activity. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. Kirsten Casey is a local California Poet in the Schools, who has been teaching creative writing to students in the area for over ten years. She earned her Masters in Creative Writing from San Francisco State, and you can find her work in the anthology Yuba Flows, and her own book of poetry, Ex Vivo: Out of the Living Body. As a teen, Kirsten kept a daily journal, wrote poetry and a play, and enjoyed quoting song lyrics. Hear the thumping of the drum call you to Senegal, West Africa and the amazing dance and drum traditions of Africa. Learn the energetic movements, lively songs, and drumming rhythms of traditional African ballet. Design costumes and jewelry in the African tradition. LITTLE BANDS CAMP! Grades 3-12. Campers will learn and perform ?The Eruption of the Great Volcano?, an exciting original musical composed by Josh Grekin. Everyone will learn to play instruments and even write and perform their own songs which we will add to the show! In a Little Bands musical, the characters are all musicians and the actors accompany each other on the instruments as they sing, act and dance. Whether you are already advanced, or just beginning, everyone will learn vocal lessons and skills on piano, guitar, bass and drums.
