Using MIG welders, metal saws, hot and cold bending systems, and grinders, youll begin to master the basics of welding and metal fabrication. This weeks welders will work in the spirit of Claes Oldenburg, an American artist made famous for creating giant public art pieces of oversized everyday objects: a giant eraser, a tube of lip stick, a hand saw. The Grunch - A Musical Theater Production Camp! Ages: 3rd - 8th Grade in the Fall of 2016 Join the cast of this 1-hour musical which will perform 2 shows at the Numerica Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 24 at 2:00 and 7:00 PM. Inspired by The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, The Grunch tells the story of Rudy Grunch, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an outsider. When the entire school gets excited about the annual school musical, he comes up with a perfect plan to ruin it for everyone; hell steal the sets, costumes and lights the night before it opens. Visual Arts Camp - Session 3 - Takoma Park Community Center
Have fun and express yourself through color, shape, drawing and design! Each session includes a new art related theme and group of art processes and activities. Sharpen your drawing skills, explore new materials and exercise your imagination with inspiring art projects. Two hours of drawing in the morning using graphite, pen and ink, colored pencils, charcoal pencils, pastels, oil pastels or conte crayon, etc. followed by two + hours of painting and/or collage and assemblage in the afternoon. Media such as watercolor painting, sumi-e, mixed media painting, texture and found - object assemblage will be explored. Art related movies, access to the game room during the day and outdoor art adventures are all included in what will certainly be a memorable summer experience. All materials included. Skills & Development - Swope (12-14y) - Swope Soccer Village
This a recreational & competitive level camp open to boys and girls 6-14 years-old. Players will improve their technical abilities and footwork with the soccer ball through practicing proper mechanics of dribbling, receiving, turning and control. Having technically sound foot skills give players a competitive edge in progressing to tactical application in game-like scenarios. After completion of the Skills & Development camp, we recommend progressing to the Dribbling & Passing camp. The Steve Fisher Basketball Camps are open to boys 10-18 of all ability to experience basketball the Aztec way. Coach Fisher and his staff will put each camper through drills focusing on the individual skills needed to succeed in the game of basketball.
