LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Boys Sports Camp with Coach Tom Myran - Germantown Friends School
The focus of Boys Sports Camp is on learning and competing in team sports, including basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, floor hockey, and volleyball. In addition, campers also will take part in a variety of traditional games such as dodge and whiffle ball as well as individual sports such as tennis, wrestling, and track and field. Team-building, self-awareness and interpersonal skills will also be a focus. Our passionate and professional coaching team under the leadership of GFS Boys Varsity Track Coach Tom Myran will help participants become more skillful and confident athletes. Even more importantly, campers will have a terrific time making new friends and bonding with their upper school athlete-counselors whose job it is to reinforce the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and doing ones best on a daily basis. Swims at the Germantown Cricket Club add to the summertime fun! Bus transportation is available to and from Center City for $100 provided 17 campers sign-up on or before June 1 for transportation during the week of June 20 - 24. 215-951-2384

Robots aren’t just inventions in a galaxy far, far away— they exist here on Earth, at your local library! Join us this Winter Break for a Star Wars-themed robotics camp. Each day we’ll watch a clip from the movies, and build a LEGO robot inspired by the film. The library will be hosting two four-day camps—attending all four days is not mandatory, but each class will build upon the previous classes. No prior experience in LEGO robotics necessary, but seating is limited so RSVP is required. TBA camps are designed for all climbing levels. Kids will learn a variety of climbing skills such as body awareness, technique, and problem reading through fun games and activities. Campers will also be able to participate in playful yoga classes, game time, and have personal climbing instruction from the teachers. Grades 3-5 This is the camp to take your child?s lacrosse game to the next level with a focus on technique and agility. Our coaches help elevate their game through drills, conditioning and scrimmages. Campers work on ball handling, fast break and transition skills and participate in daily contests and games. Come and enjoy small-sided games and more individual and team competitions. Please bring lacrosse stick, mouthguard, helmet/goggles, protective gloves, water, lunch and a snack. During the week, youll learn strategies for approaching math questions that not only will help you move through the test more efficiently but will also help improve your accuracy. We will also review the essential skills and concepts you need to know from pre-algebra, algebra 1 and 2, and geometry. Youll leave this camp with the confidence and skills to make your best score yet on SAT math! Prerequisite: Common Core Math I and II or equivalent. (An SAT book will be provided. Enjoy a week full of poppin, lockin and more of the latest hip hop, contemporary and jazz moves. Learn new skills and put on a performance at the end of the week! Campers get to practice dance in a whole new light from an experienced dancer and instructor who has been teaching our dance camps and dancing locally and in the Bay Area for years!
