While some of these programs do provide valuable advice, most of them are filled with poor choices that, if followed, will get you injured or killed in a real emergency. Without proper training, separating the fact from fiction can be a difficult task. Our primary focus this week is to teach participants the practical skills that will save them in a true emergency. While a number of Traditional Skills will be introduced, our goal this week is to provide participants with a pragmatic skill set. For instance, spending five hours building a lean-to when it gets dark in 20 minutes is not a practical choice. Trying to build a bow-drill fire kit from scratch without a knife and without properly seasoned wood in the damp environment of the Pacific Northwest is rarely practical. Although those types of skills will be demonstrated, we will challenge you to perfect the basics first – like carrying a small fire steel and a couple of cotton balls...

2016 Speed of Play : Leadership through Fitness NSC - Blaine - National Sports Center
(2016 AKA SOP SCHEDULE BELOW) AKASPORTs Speed of Play: Leadership through Fitness Program, is led by AKA Director, Chris Schulz and the AKA professional training Staff. Participants enrolled in the AKA Speed of Play (SOP program), in partnership with the AKA All Sports Camp (ages 6-12), will offer adolescents an opportunity to be active, train and play in an All Sports setting geared to teach them leadership qualities with personal mentorship opportunities. The base of the Speed of Play program is from 9:00am-4:00pm and the doors are open for all Speed of Play participants from 7:00am-6:00pm, the same hours of the AKA All Sports Camp so you can take advantage of supervised activity time the entire day. University of Georgia Mens Tennis - University of Georgia Mens Tennis
The Georgia Bulldog Tennis Camp will provide instruction for every level of play. For the beginner, basic fundamentals and stroke production will be emphasized. For the intermediate players, refinement of the fundamentals--footwork, grips, strokes and strategy will be stressed. The advanced players will be trained at the same intensity level that we train our Bulldog college players. Along with match play and conditioning, the emphasis is concentrated in challenging the campers regardless of their level of play. Camps are open to any/all entrants (limited only by number and age, grade level, and/or gender). 2016 Level III Summer Intensive in Chicago (June 13 - July 8, 2016) - Colombia College Chicago
Our Level III is a four week program for advanced dancers, ages 14 – 17. Classes are held at Colombia Colleges dance studios, which are shared between two locations: 916 S Wabash Street & 1306 S Michigan Street. Dancers meet for classes Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm and Saturdays, 10am to 2pm. Students attend daily ballet classes and learn Hubbard Street and Hubbard Street 2 repertory. Classes also offered include: Modern, Yoga, Pilates, Improvisation, Hip Hop, physical therapy discussions career discussions, and more. Creative Dramatics - KidsOnStage - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
NO CLASS ON FEBRUARY 13. This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. Using their natural abilities and imaginations, students will learn how to create their stage characters through theatre games, teamwork, problem solving; and, at the same time develop students confidence. Class includes an introduction to onstage and backstage needs for a show. A final production, April 1-2, will be presented on the main stage. INSTRUCTOR KATHY DILLABER is a JMU graduate, B.A. Communication Arts & Educational Certification, plus graduate studies. Post college, she performed at Tecumseh, Ohio; ‘Land of Oz, N. C.; Busch Gardens, Williamsburg; and local theatres. Since 2013, she participates annually in the Broadway Teachers Workshop, NYC, working with Broadways top artists onstage and backstage. Workshops explored the theatre craft as it pertains to school and community productions. Other experiences include a techie backstage and a theatre instructor where she has directed numerous childrens productions.
