LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Tap for Beginners (Youth) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This course is designed as an introductory course for children who are interested in trying tap for the first time or would like to work on their technique and tap vocabulary. In this class the students will learn the basics of the American Musical Theatre tap dance style, as well as choreography to at least one song. Students will learn basic tap terminology along with tap performing techniques which will provide the student with a well-rounded knowledge of tap dance. This class is designed for 2nd-8th grade students. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelors degree in Theater, focusing on Musical Theater Performance, Directing, Dance/Choreography, and Lighting. He has been very active for the past 10 years in the Alexandria theater community, working with theaters such as; MVCCT, PCP, ACCT, and LTA. He has directed, choreographed, and fight choreographed children and adults alike. Youth Day Camp - Rexburg, ID
Basketball Day Camp for youth (boys and girls) ages 7 - 15. Hosted by Idaho Slam Jam, featuring four professional basketball players, Tammy Brawner, Chris Staples, Zig Zag, and Werm. There will be two sessions at $25 per session. Session fees cover the camp, a camp t-shirt, and one ticket for the family BBQ between sessions. HELP A KID GO TO CAMP KESEM - Davis, CA
I cannot believe that I am a part of such an amazing organization that does so much good for kids struggling through so much adversity. Being in an organization like Camp Kesem has opened my eyes to how generous and kind people can be. Camp Kesem is an organization run by students who spend a ton of time all year fundraising money to allow children whose parents have or had cancer go to a fun, stress-free summer camp. Although this is my first year as a part of this wonderful organization, I already feel so strongly connected to all the counselors and want to do as much as I can to allow these kids to go to camp. Hearing all of these stories about how the kids tell such heart-warming stories, I feel like I would learn more from them than they would from me. It gets me even more excited to learn about all the various events we get to set up and how much fun everyone has every year that they go. Whose magic is more powerful? The dainty sprite-ness of a fairy? Or the deep mystical aura of a wizard? TCT illuminates the world of magic in our Fairies and Wizards camp. With music, activities and games inspired by the magic of musical theatre, TCT will create a world of sorcery that would make Harry Potter jealous! Working collaboratively in pairs, students will discover how to build objects in 3D suitable for 3D printing, utilizing the online platform, TinkerCad. Smart with Art educators will teach students to work with 3D design elements, learn about creating art in perspective, all while exploring practical applications of 3D technology.
