Have a BLAST with us at Camp Kaboom! There is no need to look further, this camp has it all! From games, to arts & crafts, sports, performing arts, swimming and weekly fieldtrips, Camp Kaboom has something for everyone. We provide 2 healthy snacks and lunch every day. Camp Kaboom is located at the Community Activities Building in Room 4. Shakespeare in Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for 5th-9th grade students. Why Shakespeare? Why not! The stories are compelling and exciting. The characters thrilling and interesting. In the play well be working on this winter, they are also very comical! A Midsummer Nights Dream may be 450 years old, but its as funny today as when it was first performed in 1605. Under the guidance of Heather Sanderson, participants will present an abridged version of the play for a main stage presentation at the Annual LTA Showcase (April 1st & 2nd). During the course of the session, youngsters will learn acting methods naturally through a variety of theatre games, improvisation exercises and practical performance. INSTRUCTOR HEATHER SANDERSON studied classical theatre at RADA in London and prior to moving to Alexandria acted extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area. As "Miss Heather", she is known locally for instilling a love of theatre - in particular Shakespeare - into the hearts of children. Her youth Shakespeare troupes have performed in D.C. and in the U.K. and her privately coached monologue students have performed at the Shakespeare Theatre, the Fords Theatre and numerous community and childrens theatres in the area. Middlesex Youth Camp - Middlesex Youth Camp
Middlesex Camp is divided into a Senior Camp and Junior / Pee-wee Camp. Each group has its own tent on the field which serves as a home base during the day. The camp features recreational activities including arts and crafts, science and nature, sports and other organized games, weekly theme-related activities, and special events. Pee-Wee campers will have swim lessons. Junior campers will have swim and tennis lessons. Senior Campers will have tennis lessons twice a week and free swim daily. On rainy days, camp is held in the clubhouse and also under an awning over a paddle court. The philosophy of the camp remains low key summer fun, giving the children a taste of the many different activities the club has to offer, but also a time to simply play and build friendships. Camp Joyful Hearts - Joy Outdoor Education Center
Growing up with heart disease can present significant physical and emotional challenges. Through Camp Joyful Hearts, Family Camp, and the support network of kids in similar circumstances that gather there each summer, we hope to help kids with heart disease and their families address these challenges. The Heart Institute at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center is dedicated to bettering the lives of heart patients and their families with compassion, commitment and the best possible medical care.
