Opti 2 - Sailing, Tennis, & Seamanship ( Intermediate ) Eligibility AYC Jr Sailing is open to all children regardless of membership status. Admittance in the 2s class is based on their ability and performance in Opti 1s, and demonstration of adequate swimming skills for safety purposes. Or beginners in the Opti 2 age range, 10-12. Sailing The Opti 2 Sailing class builds on the 1s mastery of the basic skills of sailing. Participants will work on developing advanced sailing skills. A Opti 2 sailor will be able to master basic knots, have a strong understanding of the parts of the boat and sail and their effects on powering and de-powering the boat. During our week, the children will take care of the farm animals including the new spring lambs and baby chicks, get creative with arts and crafts, learn about our honeybees and other pollinators, cook with local ingredients, build natural shelters, learn about seed starting in the greenhouse, get their hands dirty in the garden and of course hike and explore the nature trails in Westwood Hills park.
