Technovators: Remote Control Projects and Game Design - Kentlake High School
Get a double helping of technology. First, build remote-control, motor-driven animals and vehicles using LEGO® components. Then, create their own computer game using Stencyl® software, one of the newest and best ways to create games for a computer or mobile device. In the morning, create "Nessie," the Loch-Ness creature, beautifully detailed versions of the the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter from Star Wars®, a funny-walking spider, and a twin-motor vehicle that you can quickly transform into a turtle! Students learn about motors, gears, hinges, wheels and axles, and more! With their remotes, students race and send their creations on missions. In the afternoon, make a platform style game where characters explore levels, gain prizes and avoid enemies. Students learn level design and how to add events and actions, scoring and displays, physics, and sounds in the gameplay. See your game come to life, while learning skills that can help start your development as a game designer! Ice Hockey Camp - Cabin John Ice Rink
Prerequisite: Passed Hockey 2 or equivalent. If your child loves hockey, why not treat them to a 5-day hockey camp? Well focus on skating, stick handling and off-ice fitness; and incorporate elements of power skating, passing and shooting, and games to make this a fun-filled week! Plus, each camper will receive a complimentary hockey jersey! Players will be assigned to groups according to their skill level. Full gear required: Caged helmet, curved stick cut to skaters height, shin guards, elbow and shoulder pads, hockey gloves and pants, cup, and hockey skates. Rental hockey skates are available. Please bring sneakers for off-ice workouts, snack, and a water bottle. Foothills Day Camp - Session 3 - Community Services Department - City of Palo Alto
Celebrating 57 years of creating lifelong friends, long lasting memories, and a deep respect and love for nature, Foothills Day Camp is back for another incredible summer in the great outdoors. Each session includes pre and post camp, which means campers can be dropped off anytime between 7:30am-8:45am, and picked up anytime between 4-6pm (drop-off and pickup location is at the Girl Scout House). Additionally, campers will spend the second Thursday of each session sleeping under a blanket of stars at Camp Towle for the ultimate campout experience. Night activities include a delicious BBQ, animated storytelling around the campfire, a thrilling night hike, and more. Star Wars Character Drawing - Valle Verde Elementary
Instructor: Village Center for the Arts () Room: A-2 Learn to draw all your favorite characters from a galaxy far, far away. Create your own Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Yoda and more, even X-Wings and Tie Fighters! Each class focuses on one or two characters, starting with basic shapes and stick figures, and working our way up to a complete, colored drawing each week.
