Parrie Haynes Ranch Your child will get to enjoy fishing, a nature walk, archery, arts and crafts, horse care, field games, and lunch out at Parrie Haynes Ranch. This trip is for students 8 years old and above. We will be departing BCYC no later than 9:00 am. Please have our child dropped off by 8:30 am in a red shirt and tennis shoes or hiking boots. Please no sandals or flip flops. Make sure they are wearing socks as well. Lunch will be included in this trip. It would be a good idea to send them with a small, light weight back pack/ bag with a water bottle and sunscreen to re-apply throughout the day. We will be arriving back at BCYC around 5pm. *ALL STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SPRING BREAK 2016.* 2549395759 x0

Both of my daughters attended this camp two years in a row; then my oldest daughter went on to be a camp counselor for a summer before she went on to basic training. They are now 28 and 30 years old and they STILL talk about their camp experience!!
I have a soon to be teen son, who attended the camp one year and I always wait too late to get him in again!

Adolescents today face the competing demands of doing well in school, being popular, developing close relationships with friends and romantic partners, and appearing sexually attractive to others. Each of these challenges is affected by stereotypes about what is considered desirable or undesirable for each gender. Sexism occurs when these stereotypes constrain the self-image and aspirations of girls and boys. What are the most powerful influences in teen sexism – family, peers, school, music, social media. How are these influences and the stereotypes they promote affecting teen relationships and school success? Do you worry about their effects on your children? Campbell Leaper, Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, and co-founder of the Gender Development Research Conference, is an expert on gender ideologies, self-concept, sexism, and gender bias in schools. He will talk about the ways that gender stereotypes affect girls’ and boys’ self-image, relationships, and school success. Most importantly, he will discuss what adults can do to mitigate sexism and the negative cultural influences in our kids’ lives. Lets Put On a Show! - Bernards High School
Lets Put On a Show! (Reworked for 2016!) Monday-Thursdays, July 18-28, 9:00am-12:00pm NOTE: Extended days -- July 27 and 28 9:00am-4:00pm (Dress Rehearsals) Performance -- July 28, 4:00pm Bernardsville Middle School Cafeteria Stage Dream big and be a part of this camp experience offered by Music in the Somerset Hills! Lets Put On a Show! is designed to help young, aspiring singers and actors learn new skills for the musical theater stage. During the program, you will spend time learning how to create a character through your singing and acting, develop your songs into a story, and dance with fresh choreography designed specifically for you! Led by Jennifer Foose (Director of Musicals and Vocal Music at Cedar Grove High School), you will perform the best age-appropriate repertoire and learn how to choose songs that best suit your unique voice and needs. Each day will be spent on individual and group work, and the week-long session will culminate with a showcase performance on the final day which will include some of the scenes and songs learned throughout the program. Instructor: Hawley Session 2: Machine Building Camp. Camp Collegiate is a fast-paced, fun-based learning experience that is meant to make summer days fly by with fun activities. Boys and girls in third through eighth grade spend their days with friends and counselors doing all of the typical camp things: swimming, cooking out on a camp fire, canoe trips, arts and crafts, having treats, horseback riding, games … and a lot of not-so-traditional things: feeding and caring for snakes and hamsters; studying ecosystems and astronomy; competing in science challenges; building woodworking and electronics projects. Fun off-campus trips will include canoeing down the Fall River, visiting the Oklahoma salt flats, going to Laser Quest, the Alley, Ice Skating, Tanganyika, the Sedgwick Co. Zoo, and All-Star Adventures. Kids often say that great memories are made in this camp and its one of the best parts of their summer! Each day at camp begins at 9:00 AM with a game of Capture the Flag and ends at 3:00 PM with a fun closing activity where the Happy Camper for the day is announced. Games played on Sunday afternoon. This is a six (6) week session. Time depends on number of teams - 1st group at 2:00, 2nd group if needed, at 3:15. Boys will receive a t-shirt and ball cap, girls will receive a t-shirt and visor. Players may wear shorts or baseball pants per coach decision, and regular tennis shoes will be fine. Players should provide their own bat and glove - YDL provides helmet to use, but you may provide your own if you so choose.
