Soaring into Second Grade - St. Johns Episcopal School
We interrupt your summer vacation to bring you a message about a fun and exciting camp that will prepare you for a smooth flight into second grade. Each day we will go to a popular travel destination where we will polish up reading comprehension strategies, word building, and creative writing. We will also further our math skills by working on fractions, money, and telling time. 1. Session I - Morning - UA College of Fine Arts
Visual Arts: Abstract Expressionism exploded onto the art scene after World War II. Rather than follow the tame methods from the Old World, these young bohemians applied paint in a dramatic and experimental manner. Find out why Jackson Pollock was known as "Jack the Dripper" and how Willem de Kooning swashbuckled loaded brushes with colliding garish colors. Youll be dripping, smearing, slathering, and flinging your way to incredible artwork! Puppetry: The stars of several popular 1940s TV shows were inanimate objects. Hmmm… how could that be? They were puppets like Howdy Doody, Kukla & Ollie and their friends that created a make-believe world, entertaining children and adults alike! Sun-Sand-Surf - S1 - Plymouth Community Arts Council
Were going back to the Beach! An entire summer camp inspired by a tropical holiday. Well use sand clay & watercolors to make beach-inspired art, sculpt pottery hermit crabs, create our own shades with colored lenses and make a transparent jellyfish sculpture. Mo the moss ball is back as our camp mascot this year with his own comic book made by YOU. Each student will exhibit a piece in our end of summer Art Show. 734-416-4278

Music/Chorus-The Science of Gardening - Amador Elementary School
MUSIC/CHORUS Branch Out into Music Singing and playing an instrument can be so much fun, but some students just dont know where to begin. This fun-filled class includes music basics, singing, and playing the recorder. From there, students may be able to branch out into playing another instrument, or learn to sing harmony in a choir. ​ THE SCIENCE OF GARDENS Gardening, kids dig it. Each day of class will have a hands-on science and gardening theme. On the first day of class, we will learn about the basic needs of plants and students will plant seeds. On each subsequent day we will explore topics such as leaf adaptations, flowers & pollinators, fruit, seeds & seed dispersal, beneficial insects, garden art, and sustainable gardening.
