Become a safer, more confident, and experienced cyclist. Explore the paths in Vasona Park and along Los Gatos Creek Trail from end to end. Take breaks to investigate life along the creek. Practice and improve your bike skills, such as panic stops, avoiding obstacles and navigating steep grades. Learn how make sure that your bike is in good working order and complete some basic repairs. Experiment with gears, examine the inner workings of bicycles, and learn some biking physics. Look at different kinds of bikes and see what they are designed to do best. Participants must bring their own helmet, two-wheel bicycle with gears and be comfortable riding up and down hills. Young engineers will level up their creative knowledge with our custom educational version of Minecraft. Well show them how to design and build with redstone, the information and electricity conducting material in Minecraft that can be used to teach students fundamental concepts of electrical and mechanical engineering, engineering design theory, and logic skills. Well use redstone circuitry to complete various projects that might involve moving devices, functional computing machines, or even audio visual sequences based on basic programing logic, all while the students are in a virtual world of their making. Minecraft becomes a powerful learning tool as we help guide our young makers into new discoveries about engineering, circuitry, computing, and design. Along the way these makers will also build skills in collaboration, communication, and digital citizenship. With MakerStates help, Minecraft screen-time can be turned into STEM-mastery time. Boys Basketball - Sanford Day Camp
Stan Waterman will be the head coach for our Basketball program. Stan is the head basketball coach at Sanford since 1991. Under Stans direction, Sanford won multiple State Championships. Stan played point guard at the University of Delaware and is the Dean of Students at Sanford. He is considered to be an outstanding teacher of youth. Stan utilizes both courts of the Sports Center to set up stations for dribbling, passing, jump shooting and foul shooting. The afternoons are used for small team play. 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, etc. By the end of the week, all players are participating in full team scrimmages. Players can expect a good workout every day. -------------- LOCATION: Sanford School. Please drop your child off at the Sports Center at 8:45 a.m. Pick up will be in the same location at 3:15. --------------- WHAT TO BRING: Light-weight, loose fitting shirts, shorts, socks and sneakers. Water Bottle Bathing suit and towel for free swim in the afternoon. Lunch, unless purchasing from Camp. ($35.00/per week) A drink will be provided for all by the Camp.
