There are a number of trained staff on site. They undergo staff training to better understand the mission, policies, and schedule of the program. Different camps have different ratios. The smaller the ratio, the more individualized attention a camper will receive. For example, a 1:3 ratio means that there is one staff member per three campers.

The Hawks Haven Nest provides our youngest campers with the same quality and diverse program found in our Primary Camp. Campers participate in fun, active, enriching activities that are developmentally appropriate. While these children will not participate in off-campus field trips, we will bring special events and activities to campus just for them! A typical day will include both individual and small group activities with an emphasis on: • Developing social skills • Providing cognitive challenges • Learning to cooperate and function successfully in a group • Exploring • Building self-confidence • Learning to make choices • Developing a love of learning • Character Development • Creative Thinking Every day will include indoor activities writing, painting, cutting, and puzzles and outdoor activities like water fun and great games. Watch out! Its a shark attack! In Invader Defense: Shark Attack, we will create our own version of an invader defense game that will allow us to protect a coral reef from hungry sharks. We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard and outline the rules of play for our game. Then we will use Clickteam Fusion 2.5® to bring our storyboard to life with programming. This is one of the most exciting camps because kids experience the joy of pedaling independently for the first time! This half day camp is perfect for the younger child who is still on training wheels or going from push bike to pedal bike. Our goal is to get them riding their own bike on two wheels by the end of the week using specific techniques, patience, and fun. You can come with training wheels on their bike if that is what they are used to riding. Or, if they are going from a push bike to a pedal bike, just make sure they have a bike that fits - no training wheels need to be added. We will work toward removing all training wheels as the week progresses. Please bring a helmet, 2 snacks, a water bottle, rain gear and closed toe shoes.
