Nature Adventure Day Camp - St. Edward State Park
Since 1995, Wilderness Awareness Schools Summer Camps for ages 4 – 18 have cultivated young peoples understanding and appreciation of nature, community and self. Through exploration, adventure, and creative play, students work together in small groups gaining knowledge of plants, mammals, tracking, birds and survival skills. WEEK 1: EARTH What exactly is soil and how does composting improve it? What living things live beneath the earth we walk on? The earth and our local park and gardens provide our campers with an extraordinary opportunity for exploration. Our campers will begin tending to the soil and planting seeds. Our campers will also learn about composting with a visiting workshop from Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
