Food trucks food craze! During this week we will discuss food trucks food, decorate aprons, chefs, hats, and make a fun menu of food truck treats! Your chef will prepare and bake things like cupcake pancakes, corndog muffins, star spangled strawberries, homemade mini pizzas, and confetti cake in a jar! We will provide tickets and invite the other students to come and taste some of our fun menu creations. Students in this class decide on the menu, prepare the dishes and organize its presentation. 206-957-1533

Iron Men Acro & Agility - St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School
With coaching and equipment resources from the Gymstars Gymnastics, boys will be introduced to the basics of tumbling acrobatics such as rolls, cartwheels, handstands, handsprings, jumps and safety falls, in addition to mini trampoline fundamentals. To round out this program the mini-men will also practice strength, flexibility, coordination, and agility challenges in a fun, age appropriate format. Strong, flexible and fit boys will be assets to any future basketball, football, or soccer teams. Begin here…go anywhere! Prizes and participation trophies will be awarded to everyone on our show off day May 18th, the last 30 minutes of class. Parents are welcome to come watch their child during this time. Boating: Basic Sailing Camp - Lake Merritt Boating Center
Piedmont Recreation is proud to partner with the City of Oakland Lake Merritt Boating Center. Piedmont Recreation offers transportation to and from these camps. The Basic Sailing Camp requires a swim evaluation that can be arranged through the Piedmont Community Pool at (510) 655-5163. SWIM EVALUATION IS REQUIRED. This entry level sailing class will definitely give kids a chance to get their "sea legs". The campers start off learning the parts of the sailboat and by weeks end theyll understand wind direction as it relates to propelling, and more importantly, controlling their sailboat. Games and drills on the water help to teach these basic skills. No experience is needed. If your child does not have a swim evaluation verification on file, a swim evaluation will have to be completed before the first day of camp. CAMP DETAILS Fairy Tales Week In addition to fun theatre games that foster creativity, self-expression and teamwork, students will explore their favorite fairy tales through dramatic play. We will act out stories, improvise news interviews with fairy tale characters, create set pieces, engage in music, movement and puppet activities and much more! A showcase of our favorite stories will culminate this ensemble building experience. Children spending the full day with us should bring a sack lunch for our lunch break at the park Musical Theater Week Thank you for the music! In this camp, students will have fun exploring their own personal voices through songs and dances from various musicals! In addition to drama and improv games that foster theater skills in creativity, self-expression and teamwork, campers will create their own show that incorporates songs from their favorite musicals. Using exciting hands-on LEGO® MINDSTORMS® components and renewable energy add-ons, campers explore and understand renewable energy sources, including: solar energy, wind energy and hydro energy, as well as the functionality and capability of solar cells, wind turbines and hydro-electric power plants. Theyll explore energy supply, transfer, accumulation, conversion and consumption; design and build models and observe the behavior of their models. This is an advanced robotics course and campers should have some experience working with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® components. Campers with no experience should attend Camp Deep Space Robotics.
