2nd High School Camp - Wi-Ne-Ma Christian Camp
Our aim is for the campers to experience Gods love in Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to hear His call upon their lives. Various elements go into Christian Camping including the community that comes together in the Camp, the natural setting, games and recreation, Bible study, worship, prayer, and fellowship. Folk Art Around The World with Nellie Shevelkina Go Global! Learn about different cultures through their arts. We will travel from Africa to the Americas, Europe to Asia, Australia and in between discovering traditional folk arts from around the world. Explore the history, techniques, and special meanings of various crafts while noticing similarities and differences in their designs, patterns, and styles. We will create mosaics, painted and printed fabrics, sand paintings, mask making, paper maché figurines, paper cutouts, clay whistles, just to name a few. Students are encouraged to research their own cultural and ethnic backgrounds and proudly share these artistic traditions with the class. Fun with Metal with Connie Pfeiffer Make jewelry and mini-sculpture with copper sheet metal and wire to wear or hang. Stamp, fold, hammer, bend, cut, twist and even heat metal to create pendants, medallions and forms from nature such as pea pods and leaves. Students will explore using basic hand tools, especially hammers, mallets, cutters, files, pliers and torches (one-on-one with instructor) to create works in metal. These skills include Shooting, Dribbling, Passing, Rebounding, and Defense. We will also teach proper teamwork and sportsmanship which is vital to becoming a strong basketball player. Our professional staff has worked with kids of all ages and skill levels. We take great pride in personal attention and hands on teaching. There will be many fun games and prizes throughout the clinic. We will also develop how to play in 5 on 5 games while using proper spacing and teamwork. We will also teach the rules of the game. Wrestling Camp - Germantown Friends School
The Germantown Friends School Wrestling Camp is open to students of any ability. Our goal is to give you a dynamic week of training tailored to your ability that will help build the foundation for a great wrestling career. We provide a safe, enjoyable environment and emphasize the ethical aspects of the sport. Participants will work on techniques in the morning, including set-up actions, positions, throws, offense, counter offense, bottom, and more. Live wrestling will take place during the afternoon. The camp will be divided into two groups, junior wrestlers (grades 1 - 5) and senior wrestlers (grades 6 - 12). GFS Wrestling coach and former college wrestler Paul Hammond will not only be directing the camp, but he also will be sharing his passion for the sport he has been practicing since he was fourteen.
