Creative Drama - Greensboro Day School
Creative Drama Camp $185.00 Rising 1st-3rd June 20-24 8:30am-2:00pm In this camp will use traditional stories from around the world to help children understand the use of movement, voice, listening and concentration in creating characters for the stage. This is a developmentally appropriate introduction to theater arts especially designed for children ages 6-9. The camp will conclude with a special demonstration performance in which the children will show the skills they have developed during the week through some of their favorite stories. Learn the basics of skateboarding from the experts at Ambush Board Co. Be introduced to skateboarding with others of similar skills, age, and experience level - from getting started, safety, and park etiquette to ollies, flip-tricks, and grinds. Discover skateboarding culture, learn new tricks, and become part of the skateboard community. Supplies: Campers should bring plenty of water and a snack each day. Campers should bring their skateboard, helmet, knee and elbow pads if they have them. Equipment will be available for those who need to borrow it. All campers should arrive at camp with sunscreen already applied, as well as with additional sunscreen, as needed. We recommend a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. NO CLASS ON FEBRUARY 13. This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. Using their natural abilities and imaginations, students will learn how to create their stage characters through theatre games, teamwork, problem solving; and, at the same time develop students confidence. Class includes an introduction to onstage and backstage needs for a show. A final production, April 1-2, will be presented on the main stage. INSTRUCTOR KATHY DILLABER is a JMU graduate, B.A. Communication Arts & Educational Certification, plus graduate studies. Post college, she performed at Tecumseh, Ohio; ‘Land of Oz, N. C.; Busch Gardens, Williamsburg; and local theatres. Since 2013, she participates annually in the Broadway Teachers Workshop, NYC, working with Broadways top artists onstage and backstage. Workshops explored the theatre craft as it pertains to school and community productions. Other experiences include a techie backstage and a theatre instructor where she has directed numerous childrens productions.
