Kid's Summer Art Camp at SCGA: Aug 1 - Aug 5 - Sumter, SC
Mon, Aug 1, 2016 - Fri, Aug 5, 2016 Summer Art Camp at the SCGA Morning Classes: 9:00am - 12:00pm: Fun in the Mud (Ages 4-7) In this beginner’s pottery class students will be introduced to different kinds of clay, the pottery wheel, a variety of hand-building skills and colorful glazes. We will draw inspiration for our creations from children’s stories as we combine art, storytelling and play in this unique class offering. What I Really Want to do is Paint! (Ages 4-7) Miss Ashley will work with students to develop basic painting skills and a love for painting, along with concepts like the color wheel, line, texture and value in this foundational painting class perfect for our youngest artists. This class is designed to help prepare students for future art classes and to give them hands-on experience with paint media and tools while having a blast squishing, squirting and smushing paint onto canvas. Artistic Assemblage (Ages 9 & up) Local artist Trisha King will guide this set of projects in which students will use stretched canvases and canvas boards as bases for their assemblages and will refinish a picture frame. Students will incorporate found objects, buttons and costume jewelry and a variety of mixed...

Youth Wilderness Survivors Side of the Mountain camp description & registration Info: http://www.wolfcollege.com/youth/summer-overnight-camps/wilderness-survivors-side-of-the-mountain/ Adult Wilderness Survival Training & Trek description and registration Info: http://www.wolfcollege.com/expeditions/summer/wilderness-survival-training-and-trek/ Wilderness Survival has become synonymous with the over-dramatized survival programs on television. While some of these programs do provide valuable advice, most of them are filled with poor choices that, if followed, will get you injured or killed in a real emergency. Without proper training, separating the fact from fiction can be a difficult task. Our primary focus this week is to teach participants the practical skills that will save them in a true emergency. While a number of Traditional Skills will be introduced, our goal this week is to provide participants with a pragmatic skill set. For instance, spending five hours building a lean-to when it gets dark in 20 minutes is not a practical choice. Trying to build a bow-drill fire kit from scratch without a knife and without properly seasoned wood in the damp environment of the Pacific Northwest is rarely practical. Although those types of skills will be demonstrated, we will challenge you to perfect the basics first – like carrying a small fire steel and a couple of cotton balls...

Arcade Game Design (AM) - The Digital Arts Experience
Come for 1 or 2 weeks! All students will receive their own DAE 8GB flash drive to store their work on and take home! Code your own arcade game and design your own controller that works with it! The first half of this class will involve students coding their own old school arcade style game from scratch. Think something like Spade Invaders, Galaga, Pong and more! Then, well have the students work with Arduino boards and use physical programming to wire their own controller to work with the game. Finally, students will design their very own case for their controller that we will print out using our 3D Printers! Come both physical and digital programming for this interactive class where students will be able to show off their games and controllers to friends and family! **Please note**: We have Arduino UNOs & breadboards for the students to use as their controllers for the duration of the class but they will need to be returned at the end. After the first few days of class, however, we will offer the option to order an Arduino Starter Kit ($99) for the students so that they will be able to work on their... 9146448100.0
