Camp7TEEN - Medford, OR
“We are too young to realize that certain things are impossible... So we will do them anyway.” -William Wilberforce There is a generation of young girls CRYING OUT, "Where do I belong? Why am I alive? Who can I trust? Who will fight for me? Who sees me? They starve themselves to look like the beautiful woman on the screen. They cut themselves in order to control their emotional pain. They use food to cope with the chaos of life. They strive for athletic prowess in order to be seen. They hope each social media "like" will validate their worth. YOUR daughters are being driven to conformity and crushed by comparison. They believe in order to fit in, they must look like everyone else, when in fact, it's the uniqueness of who they, their dreams, gifts, callings and passions that will set them apart as women who will change the world. Their dreams are being silenced and reshaped by the voice of society to compliment the direction of culture. The labels of life are drowning their dreams. Hi, we are Shantell Dayton and Lu Crenshaw, we want to throw your daughters a lifeline of CONFIDENCE and TRUTH about who they really are. Let's be honest, being a...

Pattern-Making Fundamentals - Manhattan - Esaie Couture Design School
Learn how to draft sewing patterns with flat pattern-making techniques. This course will give you all the basic skills you need to learn how to read and understand patterns and how to create your own pattern styles, using your own measurements to create a custom fit. Students will also learn about how to do simple alterations and changes to this basic pattern, aka the sloper (the fashion term for your basic pattern block). This is a great class for those with no skills in pattern-making or for those who sew and might have made clothes but with no technical training. This four-week course gives you a foundation and pattern-making understanding that you will be able to use once you have completed the course. 347-295-0022

Two Thumbs Up! - Ethical Culture
Watch great movies and learn about critiquing films. Develop a sense for recognizing the thematic (the directors goal of the film), dramatic (storytelling elements) and stylistic aspects (genre) of a movie. Besides having fun at the movies and eating popcorn each week with your friends, you can share your insights and newly found skills of thoughtfully critiquing a film. Well usually take two after school sessions to watch one movie. Each Monday well watch half of a film and follow with a brief discussion, which includes identifying key characteristics and sharing what we thought worked well or not. Learning how to critique a film makes movie watching that much more fun and exciting! Instructor: Renee Stork 212-712-6230

In the afternoon campers will learn about circuits and Redstone to build Rebel bases on hostile worlds filled with traps and defenses to protect them from the Empire. Later we will take on the role of the Empire and attack each others bases to test their defenses. Children will learn how to camouflage their base into its surroundings (using hidden doors and other techniques), as well as how to use Redstone to create traps and other defenses against the Empire.
