Piedmont Recreation is proud to partner with the City of Oakland Lake Merritt Boating Center. Piedmont Recreation offers transportation to and from these camps. The Basic Sailing Camp requires a swim evaluation that can be arranged through the Piedmont Community Pool at (510) 655-5163. SWIM EVALUATION IS REQUIRED. This entry level sailing class will definitely give kids a chance to get their "sea legs". The campers start off learning the parts of the sailboat and by weeks end theyll understand wind direction as it relates to propelling, and more importantly, controlling their sailboat. Games and drills on the water help to teach these basic skills. No experience is needed. If your child does not have a swim evaluation verification on file, a swim evaluation will have to be completed before the first day of camp. Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you have to stop your morning and evening prayers! Actually, our daughter is the one who reminded us of that and it was just one of the wonderful lessons she brought home from her time at Park River. Aside from the bible study which she was really engaged with, her favorite thing was the cast iron cooking lessons. Horsback riding is for one day only, during this time frame. The girls will be shuttled to Horsin Around where they will receive basic instruction on horse care and then a short ride on a horse compatible with their horse riding capability. AKAs Lacrosse and Soccer Week combines two of the countrys most popular youth sports. Lacrosse Camp teaches kids the basics of the fastest growing sport in Minnesota through series of drills and games. This is a very recreational Lacrosse camp that features professional coaching for both the boys and girls styles of the game.
