LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Arts Camp #2 - Camelback Bible Church
We believe our Creator wants us to be joyfully creative! The primary goals of this camp are to encourage, nurture, and nourish each childs creative spirit. Daily Activities: In the mornings of each camp day, students will receive training in music and art. In each daily session they will learn something new that will build from the previous day. While in music class, students can explore keyboard, guitar, dance, and voice. Students will learn new concepts in music theory, use rhythm instruments, and participate in creative composition to begin the process of making music. In art class, students will experience textures, work with lighting and shading, and learn level of color. Arts students develop their fine motor skills. Each artist will create renderings that they will take home for years of enjoyment. Dance class is designed to introduce your child to the beginning movements of ballet, jazz and hip hop to inspire their interest in the creative beauty of dance. Students should be sure to wear comfortable clothing that doesnt restrict movement. Students will take a break between the morning and afternoon sessions and should bring their own sack lunch. Jr. Choir - Valle Verde Elementary
Classroom: E-2 Instructor: Rick Abbott (No class on March 31 or April 28. Final performance May 12th) This enrichment class is taught by Mr. Abbott. Jr. Choir is a performing choir for 2nd and 3rd graders. We are performing the choral concert STAR MAKER – the TV Show. The songs are delightful! Ive done this concert many times because the kids love the music. The students will perform in two concerts: a daytime assembly and a formal night concert in the MUR. For 3rd graders, there are opportunities, by audition, for solos, small group numbers, and narrator parts. Proper solo vocal technique, as well as ensemble vocal technique are taught. Make new friends; develop confidence while performing onstage for an audience. The songs are upbeat and lots of fun! Tap for Beginners (Youth) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This course is designed as an introductory course for children who are interested in trying tap for the first time or would like to work on their technique and tap vocabulary. In this class the students will learn the basics of the American Musical Theatre tap dance style, as well as choreography to at least one song. Students will learn basic tap terminology along with tap performing techniques which will provide the student with a well-rounded knowledge of tap dance. This class is designed for 2nd-8th grade students. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelors degree in Theater, focusing on Musical Theater Performance, Directing, Dance/Choreography, and Lighting. He has been very active for the past 10 years in the Alexandria theater community, working with theaters such as; MVCCT, PCP, ACCT, and LTA. He has directed, choreographed, and fight choreographed children and adults alike.
