Summer Youth Art Camp: Grade 5 Summer art camp is the perfect retreat for the young artist. A faculty of professional artists and art educators provide hands-on activities that expose students to a variety of artistic styles and art processes. Campers rotate by age group to different studio classes for drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media. Daily enrichment activities may include entertainment, movement/dance, presentations and games that explore different cultures and forms of art. Parents are asked to provide a daily lunch, snacks and beverage for their children. A reception and art exhibition is held on the last Friday of camp. Learn how to make awesome graphics, use digital art programs, and manipulate images! This course develops proficiency in operating the Mac as applied to learning the basic design tools of Adobe Creative Suites main programs: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Students will learn how to use these software tools to digitally draw, paint, and collage unique works of computer art and design. Under close adult supervision there will be hands on interaction with real, live animals. Each day will feature a new animal friend, such as a reptile, amphibian, mammal, bird, or arthropod. Camp will include education, game, crafts, stories, and creative play. Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. Using MITs Scratch programming language, fundamental concepts will be taught so campers can start creating stories, games and animations and even try applying some of these skills to games like Minecraft. Well then investigate tricks of the trade for creating Lego stop animation movies so campers can make their very own flicks. The week ends with a culminating workshop day for students to tweak and expand existing projects. No previous experience necessary; just come with curiosity and readiness to have fun!
