Teen Empowerment & Survival Camp Summer 2016 - Tucson, AZ
This camp is designed specifically with teenagers’ safety and well-being in mind. As parents, we want our teenagers to be safe, but we also want them to grow up feeling comfortable with themselves, having a healthy self-esteem and self-image. This means equipping them with the skills and knowledge to assess and deal with both physically and psychologically threatening situations. Safety at school cannot be overstressed. Since this where our teenagers spend a large majority of their day regularly, the probability of their being exposed to, or involved in, dangerous or unhealthy situations is extremely high. Whether it’s an outside threat that poses a danger to the entire school, or a fellow student whose words and actions are psychologically damaging to an individual, our teenagers should know how to assess and act before, during, and after an event. The Jr. Scientist Camp covers a broad range of fun and exciting science topics such as: Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Lab Process Skills. Activities and experiments explore different branches of science including entomology, oceanography, paleontology, and rocketry. This camp is perfect for the child who has a general interest in science and wants an exciting "sampler" camp! Campers learn all about the Scientific Method, how to observe and document changes with their experiments day to day, how to measure, and more! Tennis 3 - Brigham Young University
Join BYU mens tennis head coach Brad Pearce for a week of incredible tennis! Learn strategies, tactics and techniques through drills, on-court instruction and singles and doubles play. Players will receive instruction on the fundamentals of all major strokes and will practice these strokes through feeding, live-ball drilling and competitive match-play. Students will hone their skills as they have an opportunity to advance through each of five stations that are set up to practice every aspect of their game. They will also have an opportunity to improve their fitness and participate in competitive off-court games that focus on enhancing their flexibility through stretching, agility and endurance. In addition, they will play competitive matches in both singles and doubles. This is excellent preparation for anyone interested in participating in high school tennis or preparing to compete in USTA leagues and/or tournaments. On Friday of each week, all participants will play in an individual singles tournament against players that are at their level. Trophies are awarded for the winners and runner-ups, but all will play multiple matches. The camp concludes after the tournament on Friday with an awards ceremony.
