Sports Camp week 5- Basketball (ages 5-12) - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of basketball camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to excel in the sport including dribbling, passing (chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes), shooting (jump shots and full shots), and man to man defense. Agility and hand eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of basketball camp will focus on the basic rules such as traveling, double dribble, charging and blocking, as well as the duties of each position. Additionally modified games of basketball and cooperative games such as knock out, PIG, around the world and 21 will be played during the last hour. As the skills of each child advances, the third hour will consist of more realistic game like situations and a mini tournament based upon age group. Equipment will be provided. New This Year! CAMP DETAILS Fairy Tales Week In addition to fun theatre games that foster creativity, self-expression and teamwork, students will explore their favorite fairy tales through dramatic play. We will act out stories, improvise news interviews with fairy tale characters, create set pieces, engage in music, movement and puppet activities and much more! A showcase of our favorite stories will culminate this ensemble building experience. Children spending the full day with us should bring a sack lunch for our lunch break at the park Musical Theater Week Thank you for the music! In this camp, students will have fun exploring their own personal voices through songs and dances from various musicals! In addition to drama and improv games that foster theater skills in creativity, self-expression and teamwork, campers will create their own show that incorporates songs from their favorite musicals.
