Chicago Red Stars Girls Soccer Camp - Olympic Park
Red Stars Academy summer day camps are led by current Red Stars players and top level licensed coaches. Every participant works on a host of specific skills focusing on dribbling, passing & receiving, and shooting while being inspired by the professional players and coaches to reach their full potential. In addition, during every session, time is also spent on speed and agility training. Open to girls ages 8-17 of all skill levels, Red Stars Academy camps provide a professional, fun and welcoming environment for participants to cultivate new skills while further developing current strengths. Canvas Painting (AGES 5-7 for the PM) Explore the colorful world of paint with teaching artist Deron Cohen (www.deroncohen.com). We will be making at least two paintings over these 5 days. Through step-by-step instruction and demonstration, students will learn how to break down an image into its most basic shapes and transfer those shapes onto the canvas. We will also explore the Imagination as students are guided through a creative process that encourages experimentation while also re-enforcing all of the previous techniques and skills developed. Time permitting, students will be encouraged to make another painting incorporating all the techniques learned throughout the week. AccelerateKIDs Coding Scratch Camp introduces campers ages 10 to 14 to the visual programming language M.I.T. Scratch. Campers attending will learn the basic principles behind computer programming by designing advance video games. Over the course of the week students will program games. Each programming lesson builds upon itself and reinforces the basic concepts to learned in camp. Using their knowledge learned over the course, campers will choose one of their games to edit and present on the final day of camp. Each camper will leave camp with an AccelerateKID T-shirt.
