LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Robotics Vehicles - College Prep Middle
Robotics Vehicles – (6th - 8th Grade) Students will build Vehicles using Mindstorms robotics equipment. Students will advance on their programming skills and manipulate the Vehicles with coding on a laptop. There is a limit to 16 children for the class. The curriculum for the Robotics Club is different for each quarter, allowing for new material to be added per quarter. But the different curriculum also allows for new students to join in without having had previous Robotics experience. Students do not need to bring anything to the Club. During staff training, counselors and other staff members are trained in basic youth development, behavior management and common issues, group formation, diversity and cultural competency. Common issues like homesickness are also touched on, and counselors are reminded of the importance of encouraging youth to reach their full potential. Have an awesome summer at BlackRock and be part of a great team. This is an opportunity for students entering grades 9-12 to earn Student Service Learning hours and develop great leadership and supervision skills assisting campers between the ages of 4 ½ and 13. Experience working with children and an interest in visual art, drama, music or dance is preferred. CITs must be committed to attending their entire session and take part in a training to participate in the program. Maneuverable robots will be tested as they race against the clock and other pirates. Variations of Capture the Flag, Race Against Time, Obstacle/Maneuverability Courses all out Pirate Wars will be held with a robotic spin.
