You are invited to the dedication of the new chapel at Youth Haven Bible Camp at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21! A reception with refreshments will follow the dedication service. As most of you know, the chapel honors the memory of Julia Brandenburg, daughter of KMM missionaries, Scott and Amy Brandenburg. Chapel services were Julia’s favorite activity at Youth Haven and while she was able to enjoy only one summer as a camper before her passing in 2012, countless children will continue to hear the gospel message in the new chapel in the years to come. Although there may be work yet to be done, the building will be dedicated for God’s use and glory on May 21. If you plan to attend, please contact us by May 9, as this will help in our preparation for the event. If you have prayed, sent a gift for the project, donated materials and/or worked on the new chapel, we would love to have you join us! Please come celebrate and give praise with us!
KIDS CAMP- Midwest Women's Herbal Kids Camp - Almond, WI
Kids Herbal Camp offers children the opportunity to attend the MWHC while learning about herbs through age appropriate activities. The Kids Camp offers guardians the opportunity to attend the conference along with the children in their lives. Guardians will be able to attend classes kid-free and know that their children are also being exposed to plant wisdom. Kids Herbal Camp is for children ages 3 – 11 (boys and girls are welcome to participate) and activities will be planned according to ages. This year the kids Herbal Camp is run by Heidi Huebner, founder and steward of Blue Bird Hill Homestead in Hudson, WI. Kristine Brown will be offering a workshop session for the kids too! This workshop explores Shakespeare in an intimate and accessible way through passion, imagination, and language. You will gain a deeper understanding of the plays, the motives behind them and the characters. We will create a piece of theatre using select Shakespearean texts and perform it in an outdoor location at the end of the week."All the world s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. Theme: Theatre Inventors Silly characters take to the stage! Through improvisation, special guest artist workshops, art projects, theatre games and rehearsals, campers will learn the basics of acting. Along the way they will discover new ways of collaborating with peers and the joy of performing. Past workshops have included stage make-up, choreography, singing, yoga, and swordplay! We will spend the mornings doing fun things on campus like; playing games, flying kites, dodge ball, hide-n-seek, flag football, basketball, video games, etc…. We also will build our own fun when we build things like; bow and arrows from PVC pipe, marshmallow shooters, mini-golf-courses, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, and anything else we can think of! This week with Virginia Fishing Adventures offers campers the opportunity to learn the basics of freshwater fishing, from casting, to lure and bait choices, to the best places to catch fish. We fish mostly private ponds with this younger camp to ensure success. Safety is our number one priority, so all campers will wear life jackets when in the water or on a boat. Also, we maintain a 1-to-4 counselor-to-camper ratio. 804-272-6362
